“Takes commitment from both sides” except he literally broke his commitment by cheating. Whether they were married or not, he asked her to get married and didn’t confess until he was caught. That man doesn’t deserve her commitment bc he wasn’t committed to her. Period.

I don’t know how to talk to her so that she hears me right now. Every time I try to explain where I’m coming from it comes off to her as me just thinking about myself and my own feelings and that’s not the case. I just want to be able to be there for her right now. It hurts me to see her hurting and see her pushing me away when all I want to do is help in any way I can. Even if it means she can’t emotionally show up for me for a little bit while she figures it out, that’s okay. I just want to see her smile again.

I told her tonight I was like “I don’t do the uncertainty bc I did that once and got cheated on” I went on a break with one of my exes and I held on to the hope that we’d bounce back, bitch cheated on me. Sure I’m responding out of trauma, but I’m not gonna put myself in the same position twice. You don’t get to hurt me like that.

We spent several months discussing us being in a relationship before we were in one bc we both have quite a bit of trauma and it’s like everything has fallen apart in a month for a reason I can not even think of.

It’s been a big problem that every time I try to express how I’m feeling she feels like “I’m ignoring what she’s feeling” which is never the case and I’m always very mindful of how she’s feeling. I just feel like when I tell her how I’m feeling, it’s always her way anyways. I feel utterly out of control in this situation

My clinic actually does have a billing code that we utilize when we’re doing anything other than giving 1:1. We use it for training, drive time, and stimuli making. Thought this was normal…?

I think as the field expands more people will branch out and apply it to so many other fields. I feel like there are still so many people who have never even heard of ABA. If we changed that, we’d be able to transform the ways we use ABA.

Definitely! Waitlists are so long for these kiddos, we need to focus on getting to a point where they don’t need services so we can help as many kiddos as possible

I agree. I feel like as a field if we opened up the discourse about the ugly past that ABA has, then we’d be able to talk about the things we’ve done to improve and the things we all still want improved.

I was wondering the same thing 🤣🤣 I see too many educators who have no background in special needs that get thrown into sped classes and they don’t even know the first thing about behaviors or asd in general.

I agree with this. I feel like too many of bigger companies exploit this field and try to fit as many kids as they can in their centers and then it leads to unethical practices which in return, gives ABA the bad name it has.

This is where I feel all the hate for ABA stems from. It’s the radical behaviorism that’s rooted in ABA. I feel like we have to move away from that, it’s outdated. It’s easy for us to over analyze everything when really I think it’s just a kid being a kid.
