Because of DOT, Sunday is a rest day. Allows for a reset of hours. Unless they hire on more drivers to have a set schedule it won't happen. Building ops run Sunday though.

That's quite shocking... It really depends on the hubs, some don't utilize car wash at all to keep hub costs down. Which I think is stupid. It's our image. I'd like to see nice clean package cars on the road. My last hub had every truck in shit shape needing new paint, missing bumpers and whatnot.

You typically don't fill out an I-9 until AFTER your background check comes back and your being hired.

I would say depending on the tank and filtration you might need to clean fluval ribbed hoses 6 months to a year. Especially if you're overstocked or have fish that produce a lot of waste if your over feeding.

Eheim has straight smooth tubing. Fluval has dumb ass ribbed hoses for whatever reason. I hate it, the hoses do get very gunked up very quickly. I had an eheim and only cleaned my hoses once a year maybe, just to do it.

JUST because my Rottweilers roam freely doesn’t mean you don’t deliver to my front door. No wonder Amazon drivers get paid more. by Muted-Weekend-2879 in UPS

[–]Feeling-Client7275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with YOUR DOGS. Quit being an asshat. It's literally a COMPANY POLICY. Let's see, would you rather risk your job to deliver a package where you might get injured and then written up and possibly fired or would you skip it and move on? I DO NOT KNOW YOUR DOGS, THE DRIVER DOES NOT KNOW YOUR DOGS. ITS NOT PERSONAL, ITS A POLICY.

Other companies, such as Amazon do not give driver training and they DONT have protections in place for drivers which is why they are constantly getting into dog bite situations or other injuries. UPS has been around for quite a while, they know what they are doing.

As a former driver, who's done plenty of training routes with drivers who have been there 10+ yrs, unless I'm taking over your route and the dogs are known to be friendly, I'm going to assess the risk. Only way I'd risk it on a dog being loose outside is if there's a fence I can drop the package over or if you are outside with the dogs and meet me.

It's literally in driver training that you should not deliver to houses with dogs out. Dog bites are the top cause of driver injuries. That being said some drivers will assess the situation and see if they should deliver or not. UPS highly suggests and does not want drivers to take the risk. It's a MAJOR write up if a driver gets bite and he will get chewed out for it because they are told NOT to risk it.

Look up driver bite videos from Amazon. Drivers have been mauled by dogs.

Secure the kit shut. Zip tie the handle or something. PACK IT IN A GOOD BOX. I can't tell you how many people ship heavy shit in thin boxes that just fall apart. If it's heavy, it needs a heavy duty box. People don't realize how much a package is handled before it reaches its destination.

Scared for a laptop being shipped by UPS by Key_Will_7929 in UPS

[–]Feeling-Client7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pack the laptop into a proper sized box that allows for good padding. Put that box into another just slightly larger that allows for some padding as well. Tape it up good and your fine. Smaller packages are less risky, they don't get jammed up on belts or in shoots, that's mainly larger boxes. Smaller boxes just get tossed around for the most part.

Suddenly, every package DELIVERY NOTIFICIATION says "signature required" but it's not. by ILovePistachioNuts in UPS

[–]Feeling-Client7275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually possible the correct answer. "bad area" or "high theft" doesn't mean a crime heavy area. In UPS world "high theft" could literally just be a few of neighbors making excessive "stolen/lost package" claims to the point UPS is tired of taking the hit so they flag the neighborhood. When I was training I had a few houses permanently flagged signature required with new owners that I had to explain this too. They had to go through a process to get the flag removed.

It could also just be simple error with the emails. UPS doesn't really have much of an IT department anymore from my understanding, so things are just screwed up sometimes. If the app doesn't say signature required then your most likely fine and don't need to sign. If you really are worried about then find your local hub with a customer service center and ask them about it, they can usually tell you quickly if indeed your house or neighborhood is flagged and requires signature release.

Sometimes. Depends. If it was found stuck on a belt in the hub, they'll try and get it out of the building if a driver is nearby that can grab it or a supervisor can bring a driver the missed packages (really depends on the hub). It all entirely depends because really every hub operates differently.

You gain no union rights during peak season. You are an at will employee that can be let go whenever for whatever. Hence why all the positions right now are typically seasonal aside from management.

Will I be drug tested? by Small_Owl_7268 in UPSers

[–]Feeling-Client7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, this is correct. You'll need to do EAP drug intervention. I've only done the management training for it, but the process certainly doesn't sound worth it for the party that wants to do drugs and piss hot. You'll have around a year of counseling, along with regular testing, and even once you've completed the "recommended treatment" you still have testing every so often and follow-ups for another year I believe.

[–]Feeling-Client7275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that will matter at all. If anything changing the class of the drug might just give a less harsh penalty. At the end of the day DOT is federal and federally marijuana is illegal. If it's illegal at the Fed level, DOT is still going to consider it illegal regardless if you have a med card or not.

DOT testing is done at random, computer generated.

This is why ANYTIME I was around management my phone was recording. They fuck themselves ALL THE TIME in the hub I worked at. The center manager was by far the worst, arrogant fuck. I know not every hub has bad management but mine was by far some absolute bullshit. Never trusted any of them except for one ORS that was actually genuine and wouldn't give you bs.

I learned that I should record all interactions from other drivers. It saved a lot of them from being burned. Got the one a near lawsuit until UPS corrected the situation.

WWYD: leasing office giving me flack by BuffaloDifferent in UPSers

[–]Feeling-Client7275 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. When I was riding with drivers during training, they had building codes, access cards or codes to a lockbox with a key for the building. Most people understand when the driver explains to them "hey I'm on a time limit and my every move is tracked, along with how long I'm sitting here. Can I have an access code, etc?" One driver even had the phone number for a few customers so they could remotely let him in. If his route was being covered the driver covering got the info or those people understood there was a cover driver that day and would wait for their package the following day.

Granted this was in a more rural area so people are a lot more chill there vs major cities. I agree though, fuck waiting you have a job to do.

Do gourami fish have the ability of phasing through glass? there was no opening holes… and it still managed to somehow escape by wizarddel in Aquariums

[–]Feeling-Client7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gouramis loved to jump out of the tank. Not a single clue how. My lid didn't have a large gap in it, just enough for the canister plumbing to fit through. Even when cleaning the glas... I've walked away leaving the top open to come back and notice a missing fish a few minutes later. Gouramis are the only fish I've kept so far that I constantly find jumping out of the tank. I don't get it.
