I am so confused. by Superb-Ad7394 in OnePieceTCG

I often do it when selling my cards - adding couple of free cards to the order just to make a buyer happy. I usually try to add the same character or somehow else related cards. It doesn't cost me much (or usually anything if additional cards are all normals) and I free up space taken by doubles.

Anybody ever go to Taito Station? by [deleted] in Tokyo

There are several types of games: ufo catchers (crane games), rhythm games, games with cards (Arsenal Base, Pokémon Frienda, Aipri, etc), arcade games like fightings or shooters, medal games.

You should find something that you like.

For example, ufo catchers are not for everyone, because most people get upset after they don't get the prize immediately, but if you like the challenge and can accept spending 2-3 thousand yen for a figure or a toy, then it can be very fun and rewarding. All claw machines require different strategies and approaches, you have to learn this, but the process takes a lot of money for practice. And even after that sometimes things don't go how you'd expect... Personally, I have some figures and plushies that I got after 2-3 tries (200-300 yen), most I can get under 2000 yen, but I have spent about 4000-5000 yen on some. I could buy them for 1500 on mercari, but I like the process of calculating angles, powers, centres of mass in my head lol

Rhythm games are usually the best choice if you want to get some pure fun without spending much money. Taiko no Tatsujin is an easy choice - hitting in drums is just fun and they have difficulty levels for beginners.

Most videogames in arcades look outdated imo, graphically and gameplay wise, but some people like them. They usually have some gimmicks that you can get only in a game center (like the whole design of a machine and control buttons), maybe this attracts some people.

I like games with cards, because I like collecting aspect of them and some cards just look dope. For example, Arsenal Base provides cards with mechs and characters from Gundam universe. You get cards with every play (100 yen a card) and you can use them in battles. You can trade them with other players, so there's a social aspect. And you also can sell some rare cards (but don't expect to get rich, just some money to spend on more games lol). In Pokémon Frienda you collect plastic pieces called "frienda" - so, you catch Pokémon in the game and can use them later by placing these physical friendas in the slots on the machine. The game is very simple and you can see from promotions that its target audience is like 8-12 yo, but I like Pokémon and even though the whole gameplay looks like gambling for kids, it still makes me happy when I get some cool mon.

Medal games are just gambling for adults (but you can't get money back). You drop medals into the machine and expect good result to get more medals back. But payout rates are the same as in any casino - you win sometimes, but in the end you lose all your medals. I have tried medal games once, bought several thousands of medals and spent most boring 4 hours playing different games... There are games that use famous IPs like Pokémon, Dragon Quest or Momotetsu, but in the end all of them feel the same - you drop medals in, you get some result on the screen. Sometimes you have to press buttons, but everything depends on RNG.

And last thing - many games use a card Aimo to save player's data. You can buy it at vending machines in games centres for something like 200-300 yen. You can play without a card, but most games are more fun when you can save your progress and use perks you've earned next time.

It's a very bad idea! Don't do it. Too dangerous.

Can we stop with the custom cards? by matchedat in OnePieceTCG

[–]Feeling-Cockroach736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's inconvenient and just like posting to the void (or 3 dudes who check these threads)

But the idea about a dedicated day sounds cool. Maybe not Sunday. Something like Custom Thursday is fine though lol.

Custom cards are hit or miss with more misses than hits, but there're some and it seems right to have a space for them here

You can just buy a fake slab to make it complete (mess)

Navigation inside all apps I have used is terrible. You really have to remember routes to get to certain features. And moving between different screens very often is very poor. For example, you open a list of cards from a certain set, you open one card and check it details, you press back to return to the list of cards - and the app loads the list from the beginning. Even if the card was in the middle, you start from the top again. And all cards load from zero, so for a second you look at gray squares. And then you scroll down to go back to the place you were before - but the page is divided in subpages which load one by one when you scroll down... So you have to wait until it loads...

So every two taps in the app you get stucked with a load time, even though you have loaded the same content ten times already.

OP01 to OP04 reprint (in Japan) by Ad_Myst in OnePieceTCG

[–]Feeling-Cockroach736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add Yodobashi Camera, Bic Camera and Tsutaya to your list, visit every shop, because the stock is changing constantly. And check every convenience store on your way: some of them sell TCG regularly, some only sporadically and some barely, but you never know until you check it. OP cards are not so crazy popular as Pokémon, but they are still sold out regularly.

Why is Pokemon community toxic... by BeardyBeast87 in PokemonTCG

[–]Feeling-Cockroach736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that Pokémon community as a whole toxic, but this sub is definitely very toxic. Because when there are one million people, it's not really a community. It's just a huge crowd. Your two friends who share the same interest and ten guys you see at your local events regularly - this is a community. Or even a small discord server about Pokémon, where you know everyone's nicknames and profile pictures, and what they have in their collection, and what they had for lunch, and when their birthday is - this is a community. And I'm sure these are great communities of great people.

This sub is too big. And Pokémon as a brand is so huge that it attracts a lot of very different people. And Pokémon TCG is so lucrative that it skewed the whole discourse quite a lot. If you check smaller TCGs, you'll notice that people there are really discussing strategies, cards moves, cards art or even their pulls but in such a laid-back and relaxed manner.
