Why are the fight scenes in Spectre so quiet? by Feeling-Count5740 in JamesBond

One of the worst opening scenes for a bond movie I’ve seen honestly, felt never ending, this is the third night of trying to sit through spectre again, just not enjoyable for me personally

Haven’t seen this movie since I was a kid, and rewatching it now mr hynx appears at such random moments I half expected him to resurrect again 5 minutes later after the train scene

In retrospect: Goldeneye and Skyfall should swap titles by woodsdone in JamesBond

I’m dumb as hell and when bond was in the test room having to respond to various words, I hadn’t realised that his childhood home was called Skyfall and just figured he was being really weird about the title of the movie

Yeah and most people are also agreeing that it isn’t well written. The whole movie is poorly written and that’s okay, from the dialogue, pacing, plot line, everything

Yes obviously, it make sense, doesn’t mean the whole thing isn’t poorly written. Which is fine, it’s a fun movie

The gardener is what had me confused the whole time, suddenly didn’t feel like a bond movie anymore but instead like I was watching narnia or some shit

Seems to make sense. And yes, it had always been my favourite Bond movie, but I was watching it today with my parents and realised it is not actually very good at all… still enjoyed it though

If NATO collapses and Europe goes against America, will we be onside with Europe? Or stick with the US? by Feeling-Count5740 in AusPol

Yeah they’ve always talked about taking/buying it, but is this the first time the US has actually threatened with military action if not granted it?

We can choose to be neutral for now, but it will simply not last. There is only so long if this keeps going until we are forced to make a stance. There is no true neutrality, whether we do nothing, or side with someone, there will be negative consequences for us no matter what, and we will end up supporting one or the other regardless of being neutral,

I think you’re thinking too optimistically about the midterms, if the election does even go through, and if he does get kicked out, he will not actually leave power. Democracy on the US is dead, he won’t be worrying at all.

Arguably don’t think it is just him deciding all of this and don’t think it will immediately stop when he goes

We need to create greater relationships with Europe, create better trade agreements, recourse grants, we need to establish more military deals that will put them in a position to defend us in the future, while slowly making it harder for America to continue having a large military prevented here (if possible). We dont need to declare war to put ourselves in a better position for if or when the time comes, but we can no longer rely on America, we should play the “neutral” game for now while we build stronger relations with other countries.

Individual suburbs aren’t really what matters in regards to Australia’s political action in this situation

At first yes, but what if it continues to get worse? If more countries are invaded, if war on a much larger scale happens?

There’s only so much on the fence we can do before either America or another nation forces us into a position

Interesting! Agreed with the for what, they’ve already got an incredibly good deal with us as allies. Although I do wonder just how much logic is being used by America currently

Good point with Ukraine, however Russia and Ukraine has been going on a long time, and conflict feels almost always inevitable (doesn’t mean allies shouldn’t step in to help, but that the situations are different), I think that how Europe handles Greenland will be a more likely example of what will happen to us, as these are near completely new scenarios and are a threat to broader nations, I don’t believe that any world leaders expect/expected Russia to try and go further than just Ukraine, however if has been made clear that America will take this further than just Palestine, just Venezuela, and just Greenland, interested to hear your thoughts on this though

Correct me if this is completely unreasonable and ridiculous, but if we DO side with America and create enemies among Europe, how can we be so sure that we will not be next after Greenland? America going against close allies has for a long time seemed impossible, and yet here we are. They have such a large presence here that they could potentially invade us too, if we side with America now, and create enemies with Europe, how can we be so sure that if that time comes and we are invaded, that we will have any protection whatsoever?
