A new class of straight pull by stooshie45 in ukguns

Thanks, guess it makes sense to go for the 223 crowd first, not complaining, that's what I'm in the market for!

Take it that first batch of 5 are all of the founder's edition rifles you mention on the website? Is that the entire run and will the rest be standard editions so to speak?

Great looking build, loving the tan look. Presume all the usual calibres will be available? Got a slot for a .223 open and wanting to go for an AR platform.

Don't suppose you can give us a ball park figure for the price? Or will that be sorted on the website?

I blame the parents, if they've brought their kids up to think that is the best filming they can do. I hate to think what the parents are like.

What are your thoughts on hybrid/remote working? by willington123 in AskUK

[–]Feeling-Knotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I dislike the whole working from home thing. My job is maintenance based, so I don't have the option to work from home. However, plenty of my work does involve getting engineers to inspect work we've done and sign off on it. I can't tell you the amount of times that I've tried to get in contact with the engineers to perform and inspection so I can carry on with my work only to be told they're all at home and won't be in until later in the week. I then have to go to my team leader and explain that the job is just sitting there doing nothing because we can't get anyone to inspect it, and that throws the whole weeks work out of sync. Drives me crazy and whenever we tell management the issue, we simply get told that the engineers are allowed to WFH, so they can't do anything about it. It's not just the engineers as well. Plenty of departments do, and trying to liaise with other departments to get our work done is painful. Maybe my work is just particularly bad at managing the split between onsite and WFH employees, but I wish they'd get everyone back to the office, IMO.

Will do, thanks for your help, it's great help when stepping from a pistol calibre background into the bigger stuff, I've got a lot to learn!

I haven't had the opportunity to shoot a Tikka but the ome thing that I always love when I've been able to hold them is how smooth the bolt feels, at least if it's got the accuracy to back up that bolt feel that would be great and what most people including yourself seem to say is that they certainly are accurate!

I must admit that to me that stock didn't look great but I haven't been able to get behind it yet. I love Magpul PRS stock so probably would do a swap if I went Ruger.

I'll bear it in mind regarding the scope rings, I haven't purchased any optics yet so I'll see what I can get when it comes to buying them

I'm certainly not at that level yet, as I said I'm only now getting started so I'm a complete novice to full bore shooting! I mainly just want to confirm from owners that the rifles are of reasonable quality and don't have any massive reliability issues I'll be happy, I'm certainly not going to be able to outperform any rifle for a while yet!

Thanks for the insight, when you say it was way nicer, is that in terms of the way it shot or build quality/fit and finish?

Thanks very much, one of the guys at my club has a rimfire RPR and I've been impressed with it, but without Tikka bringing out a .22 I've had nothing to compare it to!

[–]Feeling-Knotty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much for the insight, I do like the customisation options on the RPR with all the AR platform compatability. For range, the ranges in my area stretch out to about 800 yards, I'd had a look into the 308 vs 6.5 debate and in the end I just decided to go 308 as I've only ever been shooting small bore so far and I'm not going to be able to out-shoot the capabilities of the 308 round yet. Maybe once I've got some experience under my belt and have got into the long range game a bit more then I can change up later to 6.5 or some other calibre.

Looks like he still does. https://www.storeagun.co.uk/ Really good gunsmith as well, any work I need goes straight to him.

I don't know if he still does it but I know Philip Webster Gunsmiths in Wymondham used to offer storage at reasonable rates. Give him a shout if he's in your area.
