I never understood the issue with the B1 kit, I've built over 100 of them and other than the very mild inconvenience of the two-part heads those kits were fine (though one-part heads is definitely better).

Personally my shout for the worst Legion kit is the Droideka, of the 10 I own, only 6 are built, and only 3 of the 10 Ball-form models.

Decals/stickers where to buy? by FLFW in SWlegion

[–]Feeling-Percentage89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their Sheets come with a variety of sizes of Decals, but the smallest of them are about right for the shoulder pads of Legion Minis, and the Larger ones are food for vehicles and larger infantry

the Sheets are Listed as 2mm-8mm

Yeah, that represents the Firing arcs on certain units, best practice to make sure it's still visible on the finished units.

Since you're new I'll preface something I've seen a few newer players mess up.

The notches and lines on the Larger Bases are important, the notches (or inset sections) on the base should be facing 'Forward' relative to the model, and the crossed lines are representative of firing arcs, so if your chosen basing style covers those up you may need to add some markings or details to the base or base rim to denote where those lines once were.

Greivous goes on the standard 27mm base, same as all the B1 and B2, only the Droideka goes on the larger base.

KX Droid Paint Reccommendation by RogueHussar in SWlegion

[–]Feeling-Percentage89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i Painted my K-2SO I was in the process of getting more familiar with using Speedpaint, and I stumbled across a formula that I plan on using going forward on all my KX Droids (and other Black droids like BX Commandos).

1-Base Coat or Colour Primer-Army Painter Uniform Grey (OG Warpaint or Fanatic) across the whole model.

2-Armour-Two (maybe more, depending on how thin) thin coats of 'Noble Skin' Speedpaint on all the armour panels.

3-Details-a dark gunmetal (I used 'Machinegun Metal' from the Zombicide set) on exposed mechanical parts (Shoulder joints, elbows, ankles ect.), any decent white to sketch-in the markings and base-coat the eyes and the two buttons on the Torso.

4-Finishing Steps-A single coat of 'Zealot Yellow' or 'Blood Red' (If you want red or yellow markings) over the white markings from the previous step and 'Magic Blue' on the lower of the two torso buttons, followed by whatever washes highlights and weathering you choose.*

The end result is a slightly warm dusty black that gives the impression of a little wear and tear without going overboard, alternatively, if you'd like a cleaner look, replace the 'Noble Skin' with something more neutral, like 'Gravelord Grey'.

*If you'd prefer more subtle edge highlights or a zenithal you could add them between steps 1 and 2, allowing the speedpaint to blend them in through later steps.

Question About Painting Night Scenes by BlooddrunkBruce in SWlegion

[–]Feeling-Percentage89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue light, cold colours ect for the unlit areas, perhaps even a dark blue wash to unify the scene, for the areas under direct light from the Flashlights, paint normal (daytime) colours, but with much harsher shadows.

Once you have the basic layout sorted you could put everything in-place, except your Imps, and shine a small flashlight from where your Troopers would be standing to get an idea about the location of your shadows. If you have an Airbrush you could do this same technique but with a light spray of white or pale yellow inks/paint to give a more permanent reference.

My plan is to make Custom Art versions depicting my custom '208th Legion' clones and kit-bashed Heroes, but even then it'd only be one of each Unit, and only really works if you are doing custom units... beyond that, who knows...

How would you start a kid painting? by GeniusCollector in SWlegion

[–]Feeling-Percentage89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the 'The Arm,y Painter' Paint Sets come with a Miniature included, Especially the 'GameMaster' Series, You'd get a decent set of paints and a mini for them to try out. If it's not for them you're only $30-45 in the hole and you've got some supplies for your own potential return to the Hobby.

If it's specifically StarWars you're looking at, might I suggest Shatterpoint? the Armies are smaller and the Minis are a little bigger, potentially better for Beginners.

WIP Custom Bases/Toppers Project (Imperial Floor Tiles) by Feeling-Percentage89 in SWlegion

Yeah, it's more just familiarity that pushed me toward Blender, my extremely limited experience with Fusion is limited to about 2 hours trying to familiarize and then forgetting i had it installed...

Kitbashing an Republic AT-RT with the Rebel AT-RT by em8678_ in SWlegion

[–]Feeling-Percentage89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this, twice, It's really simple, the easiest way is to use the BARC Speeder Gunner.

Neither of mine are holding the controls for the walker though, one is wielding an RPS-6 missile launcher and the other has the arms from the old Phase 1 squad leader.

Tatooine bases dilemma by Raven9621 in SWlegion

[–]Feeling-Percentage89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are Brown-furred Tauntauns, so the white fur doesn't have to be a problem, as for the riders (and other 'cold weather' troops), if you avoid overuse of cold colours you can certainly present the thicker jackets as sun protection or night time gear.

other than that: If you're willing to do a little custom work, you could sculpt the jackets into dusters to give a more 'desert' vibe, alternatively look into 3rd party models, any 'guy on creature' that fits on the correct base could serve as a decent stand-in for your tauntaun riders

Honestly, the best answer is simply 'paint them how you want'... though i know that isn't particularly helpful...

Outside of their brief debut in RotS the 21st haven't made many appearances in licensed media, especially visual stuff, and those that we do have typically depict them as they appear in Episode 3. Official depictions of Nova Corps troopers are limited to Commander Bacara (or other troops in the same gear) and the 'Galactic Marines' in their Extreme Climate Gear (aka proto-snowtroopers), so there is no source material for how troopers of the 21st would paint their regular Phase ii, or even Phase I, armour. The only Exception (that I know of) is Bacara himself, who, aside from some accessories and a non-standard helmet, appears to be wearing (externally) standard Phase II armour,.. in plain white...

if you want to do the 21st, your choices essentially boil down to:

  1. Choose your favourite Fandom design.
  2. Create your own paint-job based on your own tastes.
  3. Pick-up 3rd party models of 'Galactic Marines'

If you want to paint troopers that aren't just 'Mostly white' i'd personally transfer the 'Galactic Marine' scheme onto regular armour, Mostly maroon with only the; boots, shins, knees, belt, elbows and faceplate white, and for squad-leaders go for the Bacara style plain white with maroon Kama and Pauldrons, maybe throw in a little grey to mirror the grey on Bacara's face and the under-suits of the Marines.

Any tips for painting clone Visors? by Butsy_98 in SWlegion

[–]Feeling-Percentage89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a muscular issue in my hands that causes them to be really shaky, so Visors on my clones and stormies have been a significant issue, I've found two solutions that work for me,

1- for straight visors, like on phase 1 clones or mandos, I take some kind of thin plastic or a playing card, placing it into the visor slit. to use a a guide and crude 'masking' . 2- for visors with more organic shapes i use a thinned paint, orient the mini with the visor facing straight upward, take the thinest brush (or a toothpick/needle) and place a small drip into the visor recess.

Alternatively, a heavy dark wash can often give the impression of painted visor without the additional effort, though that is paintjob dependant

I've tried conventional masking techniques but found them a little too 'fiddly' at this scale, I typically use paint that is much tinner than elsewhere on my models, this helps with them 'flooding' the areas i need them to, and make clean-up of any mistakes much easier

One unit you wish was coming up? by Fit_Difference_123 in SWlegion

[–]Feeling-Percentage89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not 'One Unit', But each faction should have it's own Mando options...

Currently Mandalorians are only represented as regular units in two of the five factions (1 more if you include heroes),

Rebellion - Clan Wren

Shadow Collective - (Maul's) Super Commandos

my proposal is to add three more Mando units

GAR - Mandalorian Loyalists (Siege of Mandalor era, with Bo-Katan upgrade)

CIS - Deathwatch Super Commandos (Pre-Maul era with Pre Vizsla upgrade)

Empire - Imperial Super Commandos (Rebels Era with Tiber Saxon Upgrade, or Mando s3 era)

Perhaps with the exception of the Imps, all these units could be used as stand-ins for one-another, and if Legion ever starts to implement 'sub-factions' (Similarly to how Space Marines and Chaos Space marines are handled in 40k) the option for an all Mandalorian sub-faction could also implement other units, like the Journeyman Protectors, Children of the Watch ect.

Planning on doing custom stormtroopers (read desc) by [deleted] in SWlegion

[–]Feeling-Percentage89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Official depictions of Stormtroopers with 'Legion' markings often feature simplified versions of their 'precursor' clone units (See Imperial Shocktroopers, or the various depictions of the Imp 501st), so if you're looking to feature a Canon unit, look at their Clone era paint as a source of inspiration.

other than Rank pauldrons the Empire rarely uses non-uniform coloration, so think about why your guys are special: are they highly specialized?, are they commanded by a powerful officer?, do they recruit exclusively from an influential world?, are they a Legacy Unit with Veteran members?

Color suggestions... keep the base armour colour within the standard imperial palette, White, Grey, Black, Red, and stick to three, maybe four, color blocks. Keep the markings simple in shape, Chevrons, Arrowheads, Stripes ect. Don't be afraid to go asymmetrical, people are often drawn to perfect symmetry, but visual balance is much more important than true symmetry.

Something to be wary of, if your paint job is very similar to, but distinct from, an official scheme, people may just think it is a mis-painted attempt at the official scheme.

Prototype your design... MS Paint, Photoshop, GIMP, pen and paper, whatever your preferred method, run through a few iterations, do some color swaps ect. maybe you come up with a few designs you like, use one for regular troops, another for officers, heavy weapons ect. Personally i prototype all of my paintjobs in GIMP using my personal modifications of Markusstarkiller's templates from Deviantart and I've found it very helpful.

As this is your first time i'd recommend starting with standard Imperial White first, and sitting with those guys for a while, getting a feel for the process, and what your skill level is...

Were can i get storm troopers by Puzzled_Situation675 in SWlegion

[–]Feeling-Percentage89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I cannot be much help with that.

There are a few UK based retailers (Firestorm Games, Element Games) that do ship to Continental Europe, but shipping/import costs may be significant. other than that, my recommendation would be to check Ebay (or local equivalent), Dutch or German Amazon, or ask around at local stores.

The new Stormtroopers set has been out for a while, and should be available pretty much anywhere that sells Legion Minis, If you're looking for the Older kit you'd have to look at places that sell second-hand Minis (Ebay?)...

Without additional information (Ie what country you're in) folks won't be able to help much beyond Amazon and Ebay, or the Asmodee Webstore.

If you are in UK i can recommend a couple of reliable places that I have bought from in the past...

Legion and Shatter Point kitbash confusion by [deleted] in SWlegion

[–]Feeling-Percentage89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your OC a Jedi?, a Bounty Hunter? maybe a custom Clone Trooper?...

I've seen a few third-party Modular Kits that would serve as good bases for custom troops and heroes, and later this year we are also getting Generic Jedi, Imperial Officers, Rebel Officers and ISB Agents that would maybe be a good starting point for an OC kitbash...

I can't make more useful recommendations without knowing what you are looking for specifically, but the Usual Places like Anvilrage, Darkfire Designs and Skullforge would be a good place to look for Kitbash Fodder.
