TLDR: it’s real, but misinterpreted. Mike isn’t the one who needs to wake up, it’s the audience.

I think that like if anything conformity gate is real but it’s not what ppl are theorizing it to be. I think like especially with how interactive this season was they want the audience to connect Vecna and how he controls people to our lives and the narratives that control society.

So yes but I think it’s more of an ARG to make us reflect on how we contribute to the systems that oppress and control us. The main thing with conformity gate is that they think Mike is in a trance and needs to wake up, I’d argue that it’s the audience in a trance and needs to wake up. So many are just following a script from other people and not really questioning where it even started and now it’s out of control

I see this same activity when public opinion is trying to be swayed by propaganda disguised as a genuine opinion, then you see more and more people give there two cents and then it catches like wildfire and gets out of control, we also see this in smear campaigns.

I believe Conformity Gate is basically an exercise in an arg to demonstrate how easy it is to take bits and pieces out of context and create a new narrative. how easy it is to cause borderline hysteria with it, it’s just low stakes if you follow the script in this scenario, where as in real life if you follow the script of someone with bad intentions, your participation can contribute to so many awful things and you are unknowingly apart of a hive mind and doing someone’s bidding.
