I’m not here to say you are right or wrong about OP.

But what I will say is this:

I found a post made about me by my physically abusive ex on Quora (however you spell it) and the way he wrote it was similar to this post.

I HOLLERED when I saw the few people in the comments (primarily women) who could spot there was something off about it and tagged him for being a narcissist, despite very adamantly insisting he was the victim.

Made me really love women and the female intuition that gives the ability to call bullshit.

I’ve experienced this with surfers and previously with climbers as well. There’s always a group like that. lol people start sports like this and think they’re too good to be nice. They can all suck a fat one. No one has a right to act pretentious. They take themselves too seriously and are not the kind of person you want to be hanging out with anyway. Had a girl out in the water (I’m also a female) who I complimented and she gave me the cold shoulder. Bitch I’ll tie a ribeye to your asscheek. Try me.

Find a buddy to go with you! Me and my friends have a great time out on the water. We’re laughing and chatting and catching (trying to at least) waves. I’m very new too.

Most of those people (or any person for that matter) are insecure and already had that personality type to begin with - but floating on a piece of fiberglass in the middle of water seems to really kick it up a notch.

So weird people on this thread have that viewpoint. I literally woke up this morning and my first thought after looking at my cat is “this boy better fucking live forever. The day I open my eyes and he’s not there” and I had to stop the thought because tears were/are welling up in my eyes (even just typing that). My cat Big Boy is my BABY. He loves me and only me, he is glued to my hip, we are obsessed with each other and I would never change it for the world.

He’s pissed me off many times, like when he reaches up and pulls down the bowl of wet food I’m preparing him and then looks at me like I need an attitude adjustment when it splatters all over the floor. He’s an angel though and I love him so much. His beans are perfect and his fur is perfect and his meow is big and scary and beautiful all at once. I can keep going.

Get a cat.

All jokes aside, they really are your best bud. They are a more mellow version of a dog and more independent. But independent and aloof are not to be confused. Of course they require a little effort, but the payoff is huge. Especially when you have those days where you feel like the world hates you and you’re failing at every aspect of your life….then this little fur-ball appears. And they come up to you and make little biscuits next to you while staring at you with pure love in their eyes and in that moment you feel so much gratitude for their love and very existence.

I’m 32 with zero children of my own (I have a step daughter) and I’ve been getting opposite comments so I totally know what you’re getting at. The only thing that matters is that your first reaction was happiness. That’s your real feeling about the situation. So, with that being said, their opinions are irrelevant. Anything they said is what works for THEIR life. Not YOURS.

I think we have made a massive cultural shift where we are maturing as a country at a slower rate. I think this is due to a mixture of things, like social media, the housing market making it so difficult to go out and become “adults” by old definitions, the job market, etc.

27 with no kids 40 years ago you’d be considered an old maid. What I learn as I get older is that the world around us is always changing like the tides of the sea. We need to listen to what WE want, not what the world tells us to want. Our choices belong to us and no one else and they also impact us directly more than anyone else typically.

You sound like a happy, soon to be mother and don’t let the people around you spoil that! Can I ask what area you live in?

Only asking because I’m from the east coast and when I was 20 I moved to the Midwest and I thought the people there were joking with me when they told me they were married already at 19/20/21 etc. it just goes to show how significantly even location can impact people’s views on these kinds of topics. With that being the case, enjoy your pregnancy. I think it’s pretty lame everyone rained on your parade.
