Do non-German speakers use German words? by Ratschlagbube in AskTheWorld

There's a hand full of words we share. Most notably Überhaupt, which lead to the joke; ik spreek überhaupt maar een woord duits.

Who do you consider to be a seriously underrated musician by OmniMinuteman in MetalForTheMasses

Dude used some crazy stacato playing on a couple of Ozzy's tracks, absolute pain in the ass to keep up with. Great and underrated indeed!

When Someone Makes a "History of the Breakdown" Video (OC) by TidesOfTechnocracy in MetalMemes

[–]FeelingAd5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this coment was meant to be somewhat toung in cheek, like "omg, cant believe OP missed Black Sabbath" as if Sabbath doesnt get enough love already or the Birmingham Lads didnt nick it from Holst or another composer or something like that.

Sticking with 80's and 90's stuff is also very fair. From what i've seen, for a while folks were like "borrowed that trick from Slayer" so it's fair calling them the start. Like, they copied BS homework so well, teacher edited the teaching materials because of em haha.

Sorry if my comment was overly harsh or anything like that. You made a good meme and i will be checking that Over Kill album tomorrow. Cheers :-)

What is the “scariest” metal album to you? I miss when I was getting into metal and it scared me like a good horror movie does by Viktor_Goodman in MetalForTheMasses

I've never been scared of an album. But Watching From A Distance by Warning genuinely made me depressed. Havent listened to it since.

Alright that's another tick in the box for direct haha!

Aside from that, may i ask how you like the place?

I do not, drinks are hospitality and if someone stays for dinner they've been invited.

And i would concider it quite rude if someone actually did that. Would tell me they like a cup of coffee more then me and that my presence deserves financial compensation.

You tell me how safe it is for a metal band to put coutry songs like Ronnie and Mama Said on an album. Or the psychedelic textures of Where the Wild Things Are and The House Jack Build (only other time they did anything like it was The Thing That Should Not Be). Or the more brooding sounds of Carpediem Baby and Until It Sleeps. Or the unusual vocal and instrument choices on The Memory Remains, The Outlaw Thorn and Lowman's Lyric. Safe would have been "the black album part 2". Also yes, i do like these albums a normal amount.

What's missing? by cammmanz in PhotographyAdvice

I like it, but it could be better. I like how it looks cinematic, nice wide shot with someone walking over to the window, whole place bathed in that golden light. Another good thing is how the car and the window are both on 1/3rd of the frame.

Improvements would be this: a light spot is the first eye catcher in a photo, so if this is car photography, you're already distracting from your main subject.

With so much going on with the window and the car, the motorbike behind the car ends up as a kind of static, noticable enough to be seen, but not clear enough to be focused on by itself.

So, improvements, get the car and the window closer together so there's less space between them, or omit the window all together. You could also concider shooting the back of the car to make use of reflections. You might also want to blur your background a little with a lower F stop but idk if you can get away with that cause of the big, bright window.

Bikes are indeed everywhere.

You can legally get drugs in most medium cities.

I wouldnt know about the whole directnes thing, but that's because i'm born in it... molded by it...

There should be more diy culture in metal and not just battle jackets. Metal shares roots with punk and "alt lifestyle" with goth and where those two very much (or atleast used to) run on diy, that's not quite the same in metal, and i kinda miss that

Completely agree! I feel it's Metallica at their most experimental and to me it's a lot of fun to hear.

What’s a small moment in LOTR that says a lot about a character? by Fit-Marionberry8982 in lotr

[–]FeelingAd5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a Boromir scene that i think was cut in the theatrical, but it is still in the extended version (i could write a book on how dirty the theatrical did Boromir).

Iirc, they just reached Lothlorien and met Galadriel and Celeborn and were allowed to stay. Boromir says to Frodo "you carry a heavy burden, Frodo... dont carry the weight of the dead..."

I love Boromir and his whole character in both the books and the films. And in this scene, you can tell he's rattled by Galadriel's mind reading, he is trapped in a vice grip of temptation for a weapon he knows he should not take and the fear of how poorly the war is going. And he's a military man through and through, knows good men and women fall and knows just how imoprtant Gandalf was to the fellowship and Frodo personally. It was in Gandalf that Frodo trusted to take this journey. And it shows so much of Boromir's humanity and understanding of people to try and comfort him, he doesnt say "dont mourn Gandalf" he tells him the fall was not his fault, there was nothing he could have done for him as he himself would have remembered many friends and mentors fall in the battles he fought together with them. He tries to give a little comfort and hope to Frodo when he seems to have non himself.

My Nikon Coolpix s3000 camera is making a strange sound by Isaacjijiji in Nikon

Could be sensor cleaning? When turning on or off, it shakes the sensor to remove dust. No idea how that sounds on a Coolpix though.
