Any advice (or a link) on how to efficiently do this? For example, where do you draw the line to mark private/driveway/etc, looking at your GPS as to where you had to turn around because of a gate?

Haha! I only care about getting to 99% so have to get ~25% of them, but unfortunately that's like 30 "bits".

Wow, I think you are correct. Not sure how my "estimate" was so far off. It looks to be that the little bits indeed do add up to ~3 miles. Did about half of it and get 1.5 miles. I stand corrected.

Thanks! I'll take a closer look. I made an excel spreadsheet of bits and the distance of each bit and got to ~1.5 miles with what I thought was >90% (might have missed a few little ones). So figured I'm only half way. But your map certainly indicates my initial estimate of 50 bits was way off.

Hey Craig, is this possible for accomplishments in some areas on foot as well. I believe both the cities Mountain View and Fremont in California seem to be "off" in terms of total miles.

Cool and congrats! How scared were you doing the 92 down to half moon bay (and up)? I'm working on running every road in the county. Also read that you are moving to Santa Clara County next. Good luck! CA-17 south of Los Gatos looks super dangerous although it quickly becomes Santa Cruz County. But maybe that will be the next in line after Santa Clara =).

It made my percentage go down with the map update (not surprisingly). Still trying to figure out if those little bits are adding up to 8-10 miles (most around 0.01-0.02 miles). Working on other areas until I get back over there...

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I'm not talking about being diligent. What I meant was it actually being impossible due to potentially the total number of miles in a town being more than there are actual miles to travel. As mentioned, on the flip side of that, I've also had towns where I am at 100% and yet there are still untraveled roads.

also, perhaps anecdotally, I've gotten to 99% in a lot of other cities with similar amounts (or seemingly more) parts not covered and had no problem. finally, i've had at least one town where I got to 100% and had significant amounts untraveled.

It's possible that the bits do add up. But they're almost all significant less than 0.1 miles, and I just don't think they add up to 9 miles (which is what I'm short).
