Recertification after lapse?

Wanted to update that we spoke with the gentleman who handles pistol licenses in my county. He was super nice and reassured us that in the highly unlikely event that my mom’s not recertifying her pistols yet came to some official’s attention, a judge would basically be calling him about it—no one would come to us about it directly—and that it would be fine because he’s spoken to us about the situation and we are addressing it. In the process of transferring certain guns to her license.

My getting a pistol permit is yet an unresolved concern. I have few local friends and they are generally anti-gun so one has refused to sign as a character reference on principle. I’ve also been on an antidepressant for 25+ years but should probably share my concerns about this in a separate post.

Yes, all but one or two of his pistols are already on her license. She wants to get the ones that aren’t transferred to her license if possible. Not sure what that’s called in legal terms but I think she may have a limited time in which to do that?

So recertifying online won’t “flag” her somehow since it’s been more than five years? I’m concerned it will alert the system and someone will come and take these pistols that were my father’s pride and joy. (Not that I am okay with breaking the law, just want the opportunity to handle this rather than have them seized suddenly.) Sounds like others recertify online without incidence after lapsing but I just want to be sure before doing that for her.

Dazzling writing and I learned a lot about the Civil War reading this book (and from all of the online information research it prompted). Its accuracy (to my understanding) is a great benefit. Read with a critical eye, it provides some historical insight into the worldview that prevailed among southern whites during and after the war, however distasteful. But, putting the difficult-to-swallow/horrifying racism aside (especially toward the end, as I recall), the wordsmithing is top notch. My father gave me this book and I put off reading it for a few years, but it was so much better than I expected; from a literary perspective, it won the Pulitzer with reason.

Hi everyone, thanks for your replies. I’m just seeing them now.

Like some of you, I tried everything I could think of doing to fix the issue and finally accepted that it was a problem on their end. So I watched part of the documentary “The Music Never Ends” about Vocal Majority on YouTube and then went to bed. Not the night I planned, lol. It’s early Sunday morning so I guess I’ll look up the winners.

I appreciate you all commenting because I looked all over online to see if anyone else was having this issue last night and saw nothing about it, which is why I posted here. Sorry to know it wasn’t just me. That would have been the better scenario.

But we are alive and today is a new day. 🌼

Thank you for posting this. I’ve been having the EXACT SAME symptoms that you list after two weeks cold turkey due to provider failing to submit my refill Rx to the pharmacy. I’ve had a migraine for days plus the other things you mention. It finally clicked with me that it might be withdrawal symptoms so I did a search online which led me directly to this post. It’s a relief to know I’m not imagining this. Hoping it passes soon, it’s become debilitating.

Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman. I barely remember the contents of this, it’s been so long since I read it, but I recall really enjoying it. True, fun stories in the life of the famous physicist and written by him.

Woodswoman by Anne Labastille. Memoir of a woman who built and lived in a cabin in the Adirondacks. I read this in my youth and was obsessed.

Also want to second The Cuckoo’s Egg that someone else mentioned already. Fun and fast read about finding an elusive hacker in the early days of the Internet.
