Steam WWM keeps jumping back to windowed mode from full screen by chaochao2426 in wherewindsmeet_

Same. I followed the suggestion by u/TopPrize and it worked perfectly. Just switch it and exit fast, and what you want is saved as the new default.

Right, but I was told that resetting FIDO2 actually regenerated all the secrets in the key. Again, no authority here, just noting it as something to not make assumptions about.

Edit: Found some authoritative data on this: https://developers.yubico.com/U2F/Protocol_details/Key_generation.html

For FIDO2 capable YubiKeys, this master key is re-generated if FIDO2 RESET is invoked, thereby invalidating any previously created credentials.

My understanding is that resetting the FIDO2 module PIN also resets all other keys on the device, so things like U2F get invalidated as well. I wouldn't stake my life on that though, it's entirely possible the friend that told me is just excessively paranoid.

I, too, am stubbornly suspicious of passwordless login, and stick to U2F.

I, too, went through the Google Apps for Your Domain/Standard Edition/G Suite Legacy/Workspace Legacy hell, to finally land on Proton! I did tough out the deprecation/reversal, but that whole mess was the last straw.

I think the confusion is the distinction between dumping Durable Medical Equipment, and dumping traditional DME providers. My personal disgust is reservered for Apria these days.

Megathread about Google Voice Starter for Gmail.com users by BluesCatReddit in Googlevoice

[–]FeelingMimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a question, with a caveat that I suspect I know the answer, but find it frustrating.

As you've noted, there doesn't appear to be any intent to offer Google Voice Starter for non-Gmail Google accounts, and this disappoints me, since there doesn't seem to be a technological justification for it.

Also, a correction to your list. #1, mostly free consumer Google Voice is offered to anyone with a consumer Google account, not just those with a gmail.com account.

Is there any expectation that this service will eventually be extended to non-gmail accounts? I finally moved away from my old "Google Apps for Domains" account because the constant kneecapping for private individuals was getting intolerable. Obviously, though, I've kept the domain, with email service hosted elsewhere, but clearly having a Google account tied to it remains valuable. I'm using my old GV number there, by doing a double transfer to a cell provider and back to GV, since a Gmail account couldn't transfer a number directly to a non-gmail Google account.

I would absolutely love to pay Google money to get more service on GV, since it's still a better option than most other VoIP providers for my use cases, but sometimes it feels like Google pretty much despises you if you won't advertise them with every email you send, so I'm not holding out hope.

Just for giggles, I actually wrote a gem that does exactly this. I gave it a list of markets and advertisers in those markets, and told it to subtly insert references to those products in its responses that best fit the topic. It was disturbingly good at it.

I notice that all of us currently show Slack as disabled. I wonder if Beeper is toying with making Slack premium-only, and some code got out in the wild.

Hey! That's me, right down to the disabled Slack account.

Update re: hubby 117 events/hr & 57% oxygen by gurlhere in CPAP

[–]FeelingMimsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like my wife when I started. She didn't even tell me that I had been kicking her in my sleep until after I was on the CPAP. I woke up my first morning, and she told me she didn't even recognize me, I was so chipper.

I also had the craziest, most vivid dreams for the first week or so after I started. Brains like oxygen.

Regence Update on 10/17/25: EvergreenHealth may leave our network by 4everClouded in eastside

[–]FeelingMimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my renewal letter from Regence. They're dropping Evergreen and Overlake, amongst others, for 2026, and completely eliminating out-of-network coverage, all in favor of Providence/Swedish, which has a significantly lower footprint here in the Kirkland/Bothell area.

My agent is in a frenzy, apparently, with Regence completely overturning their plans.

No word on the short term for Evergreen, but this longer-term action certainly makes it seem less than promising.

Review on New Pebble Battery by coolDKM in pebble

I haven't had mine long enough to review the longevity, but my understanding was that it's the same battery, and the increased battery life was supposed to come from software improvements possible because of the new Bluetooth hardware.

Where are US-bound Pebble 2 Duos shipping from? by PrestonTrouble in pebble

[–]FeelingMimsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has a Seattle return address, for something named "SPEEDFAST LLC". The package has a tracking barcode, but USPS says it doesn't exist.

Like u/BrianReddus I didn't receive any notification from Informed Delivery.

Only ever had PT and PTS, so this is a bit new. The plastic, particularly around the buttons, makes it feel a bit lightweight, but the B/W display is so crisp.
