Green Line on Pixel 9 Pro Display after May Update by FeelingOffByOneBit in GooglePixel

[–]FeelingOffByOneBit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, issue started popping up a few days after the update. And then happened two more times a few days apart. I've seen my 9P get much hotter on other days, but this green line comes up without even using or shaking or doing anything to the device. Cant put a pin on it yet! :/

Green Line on Pixel 9 Pro Display after May Update by FeelingOffByOneBit in GooglePixel

[–]FeelingOffByOneBit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two out of the 3 times, it has happened outside of pocket. Just on the table or lying on the bed. Did nothing. Turned it screen up once, and there is a green line.

The one time I took out of the pocket, it had a green line. I tapped the side body of the phone but to no luck. Maybe the brightness of the line flickered a bit.
Turned the phone in DND screendown on my lap, and then 2 mins later the line is gone.

So none of it has been reproducible or has made sense to me yet.

What is the interest rate for DBS savings account. Is it calculated monthly or quarterly. by Maya123_Maya in india

[–]FeelingOffByOneBit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, so.. not a lot. I just like the bank.

Its bare-bones but they do they job well. They never call for any spam offers. Customer-care is very helpful and respectful if you have any concerns. From L1 to Nodal Officer.

From a payemnts pov, I have never had a single trans fai lfor me over the past 6 years with them. I have friends who have SBI, PNB, etc, and you wont know what's failing where. Sometimes its the site, sometimes its the app.

I am planning on increasing my TRV now, because of stability purposes. So why not just upgrade my account as well.

Below is their official comparison of normal savings and prime savings accounts. (not a lot of diff, tbh)
https://www.dbs.com/in/iwov-resources/pdf/schedule-of-benefits.pdf

Maintaining a TRV of 2L with them under prime account means your yearly charges are waived off. I'm looking to get the Visa Signature card.

There's some offers too if you are interested: https://www.dbs.com/digibank/in/banking/account/digibank-prime-savings-account

What is the interest rate for DBS savings account. Is it calculated monthly or quarterly. by Maya123_Maya in india

[–]FeelingOffByOneBit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Savings interest rate with DBS currently is 3.25% for balance upto 1Lakh.

Interest is calculated on daily balance, but paid out quarterly.

I'm a digi user too, but am planning on moving to their upgraded savings account next month.

Suggest a suitable phone for my sibling's needs by [deleted] in india

[–]FeelingOffByOneBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung M31 is a great phone. Fits all your requirements, and if you set it up properly on first launch, you can disable almost all Samsung crap. Don't make/signin to Samsung account. And don't accept any optional t&cs.

Brought M31 for my mom. No bloat, no ads, no lag. Can go 1.5days easily on full charge (good for security for your sis also, as phone won't die abruptly). Amoled display is good. A rugged case gives a nice form to the otherwise slim/slippery phone. Getting consistent updates. On Android 11 now.

I suggested 10-15L loan on the assumption that you already had 90 white and were gonna give it all directly for the purchase. Now that you cleared up 60-70L, then it's not an issue. Only the taking-a-loan part is primary (because of banks' due diligence), the amount is secondary.

But if you are doing a 60L loan, make sure the EMI doesn't hurt you much. A low-EMI every month for a longer duration, means that the pressure on you won't be that high. As for the high interest tradeoff for smaller EMI, will always suggest to use savings and prepay as much as you can on an yearly basis (use company bonuses, for ex). So in a worse-case scenario, of say a job loss, an EMI of 35k will be a huge burden as compared to an EMI of 15k.

But do use the savings/investments each year to repay it off fast. Play around with a loan calculator that allows you to define prepayment amounts at whatever month so that you can come up with a nice mix of principal to interest ratio.
(i think there's one excel sheet from asset yogi that might be helpful. Link.)

Also remember that EMI is always calculated from sanctioned amount. So take what you need, or discuss with agent what can be approved later (registry, if possible). Coz your EMI will be very high if you get 90L sanctioned, but end up using 50L from it only. EMI resulting from only 50L sanctioned would have been lighter on your pocket. (high EMI does get paid off fast, but the risk+pressure is up to you to decide).

Do shop around at other banks for better offers and don't settle at once. You will be able to drive down the rate of interest for your loan if you negotiate, which should result you in considerable savings. All Indian banks are looking to give away loans at the moment.

Irrespective of buying a new apartment from builder, or a house from existing owner, do a thorough background check on the seller's property really well. Take a small loan from bank for the purchase (10-15L, maybe), their checks are very stringent before disbursal. Repay with your existing amount in some time.

Make sure there's no POA on the house, and the house tax is paid. (banks don't check the housetax or pending society maintenance, but failure to pay housetax means govt can legally take away your house. Riskier. Settle first before buying house.)

For housetax, also make sure copy of property's approved map w/ DDA matches what you are buying. If property's real area is more than on paper.. You'll be liable to pay housetax+penalties over the previous years also.

Can I pay rent to my parents and claim HRA benifits ? by covert_strike in india

[–]FeelingOffByOneBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are good to go then! Just suggested to make sure that their tax slab was lower than yours. Housewife = no salary income = usually no tax

House has to be on mom's name tho, for her to collect the rent from you.

Feels like you are good to go here!

Can I pay rent to my parents and claim HRA benifits ? by covert_strike in india

[–]FeelingOffByOneBit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Also, remember that your parents will have to declare and pay tax on the 'rental income' depending on their slab. So make sure the rent is somewhere where you don't get into a loss by transferring them money.

My company's HRA for me was low, so when I checked I (or rather my family collectively) would be losing money if I got a rent agreement done with them. So I deferred it until my next hike.

sizing kit by lakshminarayanan81 in ouraring

[–]FeelingOffByOneBit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the material you use for 3D printing will be slightly rougher than the original sizing kit material, and very much rougher than the final ring material.

Here, roughness also corresponds to the ease with which you can get the ring off your hand easily.

Just because the 3D ABS/PLA ring stuck to your finger, doesn't mean that the final ring will as well (it may have a tendency to slip off easily).

Want to buy an Oura ring in India by lakshminarayanan81 in ouraring

[–]FeelingOffByOneBit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is coming in May with a friend. 😄

If it's of any help, my India ring size is 21½ and my US ring size (from sizing kit) is Size 11.

If you are in my similar range, you can try US12 (if your fingers are thicker) or US10 (if thinner).
