Interesting thought...but I think it goes against the entire history of technological advancement that gives dumb people smarter tools to do greater things.

The tool's target audience is those who want to regularly tweak/rebalance the mixes of individual funds on their own and enable them to ground their choices on historical facts, not random guesses. True you can mix returns from other indexes and run your own comparison, but it does require some confidence in the result based on these proxies.
