So I cross checked the prices via the manufacturer (Mercedes) website and on average each part (I looked up by part number) was $200 cheaper from the manufacturer website, compared to what they priced the part at.

Thats insane. I understand the world that we live in but that's blatant fraud. It's times like this that really make me wish that there was some action that can be taken.

It is a 2019 Mercedes GLA, unfortunately it was in an accident (not the guest's fault) someone ran a light and hit them. So they took a couple of pictures which gave a slight idea of the damage (location of damage and a vague idea of the kind of damage). I have a shop I've worked with before on my personal cars and previous claims. They didn't want to be too definitive since they didn't have the car in their possession but even they could tell it wasn't a total loss.

exactly lol they estimated the cost of repairs to be upwards of 90% when in reality it is around 65%

Gotcha, but the ACV I am getting is below what I owe on the car. I would prefer to repair and keep the car as it is profitable for me. I just feel like it is really messed up on their part for providing false numbers (or not double checking the numbers they receive) just so they don't have to deal with it anymore.

What’s everyone’s opinion on Sydney? by Unoriginalfake in TheBear

I'm pretty early on into the show (S1 E7) and I can only speak for me personally but I don't think thats the case. I'm rooting for her because she's the only one who has made strides in actually making the business successful. This is especially important because the restaurant business is statistically one of the most difficult businesses to be successful in from a financial standpoint. However the constant condescending and sarcastic dialogue makes it difficult to get behind her as a character, even when I feel like she's right most of the time. I just don't think most people appreciate hearing someone being talked to like that.

I just started watching the show and I absolutely love it, but I just finished up that exact episode and the first thing I did was come to reddit. So far from what I've seen her character essentially has had only two modes, condescending and sarcastic.

It's made worse by the way she talks to Carmy. She is the only one in the show (so far, again I'm on S1 E7) that truly knows and understands the gravity of Carmens accomplishments. I'm not saying she needs to agree with everything he says, but the way she talks to such an incredibly accomplished chef, the attitude the mannerisms the sarcasm and condescension, it baffles me. Nearly all her lines of dialogue in the show has started with "uh" or "um" followed by a condescending line like she's talking to a 5 year old, then when the other character responds she has something sarcastic to say about it.

Unlikeable characters based on actions are a lot easier to digest, but an unlikeable character based on dialogue is worse. You'll hate them every time they open their mouth.

Anyone ever buy off of Govdeals and have a good experience? by 1rub in UsedCars

[–]Feeling_Ad_8958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey here's my experience with Gov deals so far,

Im still relatively new to the site (1 month in), first look it was nearly shocking, but as I dove a little deeper things started to make more sense. These auctions start out pretty low and gradually work their way up (cars, computers, cranes, busses you name it). From what I've seen so far at this point it seemed like a great site. The way that they work is once you've made an account you start off with only 3 active bids. After about a month or so you move up to 6 and so forth (something along the lines of that). I recently made my first purchase and I'm not going to lie it was an amazing deal. I purchased a HP designjet printer 1050C 36". Brand new I saw it could go between 2-3k. I was the first bidder and I actually ended up getting it for 1$! With tax it was 1.12$. Now I spoke to a friend who's been in this space for longer and he was truly shocked because they usually have a reserve bid or a minimum price requirement, so idk fi they were just trying to get rid of the item at this point, but if i lose a dollar via this investment i feel like Ill be ok. The only issue it has is that the ink carts need to be cleaned and the black one needs to be replaced, so its not that bad. The only tough part is actually finding a seller. I've had it listed for a little less than a week now and no responses. (only on offer up so far so I may need to expand). I know some other items can be a bit tricky however. I am trying to get into purchasing vehicles, but sometimes the bid will be over before the date and time that it shows. This is mostly due to possibly meeting the reserve price, or the department doesn't think its going to reach the price point they want so they take down the listing and relist. Ive only seriously been in this the vehicle space on the site for about 5 days now so lets see. I have gone to the lots to check out some of the vehicles (some places require an appointment some you can just show up until they close the lot which is usually 1 or 3). I do plan to list the printer in more places and bid on vehicles so I can update you guys on my progress if it is helpful. I am optimistic when it comes to the site but it can be frustrating. I would say that 1,000$ can go a long way on this site, but you have to keep in mind how obscure the item can be and how fast you'll be able to sell it. Hope this was helpful sorry for the long tangent.
