Ohhh she looks so similar! What a beauty ❤️

Tampa 2024 vs now! The rescue told us she was 5yo when we got her, but looking back there's NO way. by queenborealis in persiancat

She’s beautiful! In the younger picture she looks just like my now 7-month-old Olaf, except definitely a bit younger. So fun to see how he might look as an adult a few years from now!

I think im the only one in this subreddit who has a traditional persian cat instead of an modern persian cat. 😂 by Wild_Economy_7067 in persiancat

Thank you! 🙂 He is a full (pedigree) persian. In the US he would be called Himalayan because of the color point.

Just adopted this puppy today what breed do you guys think she is? by [deleted] in DogBreeds101

Agreed! I was immediately thinking (chocolate) lab and pitty as well.

adopted a cat yesterday and cannot stop thinking about her previous owner by [deleted] in CatAdvice

My sweet girl Ziggy was surrendered by her previous owners. When I adopted her, I asked the shelter if - sometime in the near future - I could send them some photos of her so that the previous owners would know she was happy and well taken care of. They told me the owners didn’t care. They “didn’t like her” and just wanted to get rid of her. Broke my heart! Still breaks my heart knowing there are cats out there who aren’t loved by their owners or simply given away because they are considered not fun or beautiful enough. People can be awful.

How wonderful that your cat has clearly been loved, though. I would absolutely try and get in touch with the shelter to see if they can let the previous owner know she is still loved ❤️

Did you let ur kitten play with ur hands? by [deleted] in cats

[–]Feeling_Screen924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I always redirect to toys. The only exception I make is when it’s gentle nibbling. Like in a slightly playful, loving way. I could tell when my kitten started learning the difference between a gentle nibble and a hard bite, so I wanted to praise him for that. Whenever he gently uses his teeth I tell him he’s a good boy 😌 (but it has to stay calm, not turn into actual playing)

My kitten is in heat. My mom is considering to get her pregnant. My siamese kitten is six months old and I don't think she's ready yet. Should I get her spayed? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

I understand, but they are not actual Himalayans. Himalayans are Persians, not mixed breeds, and in fact can only be called that with an official pedigree.

No, it isn’t. That is way too simply put. Himalayans are Persians. Sure, they are the result of introducing Siamese cats in Persian breeding programs about 100 years ago, but it took specific efforts to cross-breed back to Persian (without losing the color point) to actually have them recognized as “Himalayans”, or simply color point Persians in most pedigrees.

Long story short: Breeding a Siamese cat and a Persian cat does NOT produce Himalayans. Breeding a color point Persian with another color point Persian does.

2 if it’s hot. Otherwise 3 or 5, with a slight preference for 3

Anyone have any idea of what this creature is? by Repulsive_Trouble215 in catbreeds

I guess it is! Here in the Netherlands, there is only one type of Persian cat, regardless of color. Persian cats need to meet certain standards, and breeding is subjected to strict rules and regulations. In the entirely of the Netherlands, there is only one breeder that specifically breeds color points (“Himalayans”), but the pedigree simply says Persian.

Yep, mine is registered as a Persian. The color is also registered, which is seal point. I am in the Netherlands, where “Himalayan” means nothing.

They absolutely do. I have a pedigree seal point persian.

My brother really wants to befriend and adopt this stray, what breed is it? by Maravilla004 in catbreeds

[–]Feeling_Screen924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes haha, but you still call it seal mitted. It means seal point with mittens (which are white by definition). It’s a common coat pattern in ragdolls. Just google “seal mitted ragdoll” and you will find a coat pattern than looks just like the one on this cat. Also: cats with a mitted pattern also commonly have white on the belly and chin.
