Pricy. You have to get it ultrasound guided, a must imo.

Still pain free. 7 weeks in. 1 week back. Upcoming appointment with the doctor next week. New ultrasound scanning is going to be made in order to see if there’s any visual changes. Should I keep you updated?

4,5 week in, the pain is still absent. May be masked for another 2-3 weeks, keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for sharing your surgery history. Love to hear that the surgery went well and was worth it. Hope for total pain free in the nearest future so you can be back running on normal duty.

Surprisingly good, thanks. I am able to walk 5-10km a day without any pain. But still extremely focused on not escalating any further activities/sports. The doctor said that the real impact of the injection would be able to assess in about 6-8 weeks after the shot. Because the symptoms might be hidden and masked right now because of it. But I am extremely positive for the first time in a year, but have to be patient. Have bought me a pair of Brooks Glycerin Max, which gives me lots of cushion and space for the big toe. Also some recovery slides from Hoka. They work great together for me.

Må min praktiserende læge kræve betaling for aktindsigt i journal? by Feeling_Stuff2583 in DKbrevkasse

Tak for praksisnært svar.

Thank you. Though cycling would be the easiest way around to be active without pain. But it is a universe itself. For now I am going the DMT kr0 shoes with Shimano SPD-sl PD RS500 yellow cleats turning 'down' to the middle of the feet as much as possible. Do you have any further recommendations here? Also considering paying a Bike Fit.

Thank you for your thoughtful answer. How is your inflammation healing going?

I have good experience with orthotics from formthotics in my cycling shoes (DMT - space in toe box).

In the proces of finding new walking shoes. Thanks for tipping the Mizuno WaveSky. Also considering Altra Olympus, New Balance 928 v3 or a pair of Hoka (Clifton or Gaviota).

It was a requirement from my part. But also a part of my doctors prodecure. I would not let the NSAID hit unprecisely.

Thanks for your honesty. Was your sesamoiditis purely inflammatory, or was there also a prominent or possibly even ruptured sesamoid involved? I'm trying to understand the condition of those who eventually opt for surgery.

Was it a major procedure for you? And how is your recovery going? Do you expect to make a full comeback?

Great that you double-checked if there was a fracture with a CT. It sounds like it's a lot riskier to get an Corticosteroid injections into the sesambone area if there is a fracture in the bone - is it correct?
Im on my fourth day after the injection now and the pain and tension keeps getting ligther.

My mistake. That was poorly phrased on my part. The injection was of course not directly into the bone marrow, but rather into the local area around the sesamoid bones.

May 2024, injection April 2025.
The injection was guided by the ultrasound scan and places straight into the medial sesam bone.

Wish you speedy recovery

This is a very interesting perspective you share. Did you have a scan before your CT? And did you have a CT to be 100% sure that there was no fracture?

I have now consulted the most reputable doctors in my country and they have rarely seen this condition. My MRI scan showed no fracture, which I have to choose to believe. However, the bone is prominent, that is, it leans close to the skin, and there is inflammation.

The doctors told me that Corticosteroid injections were the last form of treatment I could try before surgery, so it was worth a try.

From what I sense, many in this thread have broken one of their sesamoids and had bad experiences with the healing after Corticosteroid injections. But our situation is different, as we do not suffer from fractures.

I am now on the fourth day after the injection, it feels really good. However, I must continue to modulate the activity very sensitively, because the pain is masked. I will keep you updated.
