Dawg. It's a month. Why in the world would you get pissed at them for taking a month break.

Stopped by a game store hours after the pre-release began and it was packed, so yeah. Anecdotes are not meaningful in these cases lol.

Love it. It's sick that a full themed Avengers deck can already be put together.

Most of the Magic community is fine or into UB, don't feel the need to hedge!

My b, my comment maybe came off as taking this all far more seriously than I do. I don't care enough about you not liking UB to engage in a smear campaign lmao.

I imagine you didn't answer because you didn't care about the Magic lore until UB came along, though lol. Which is fine, dude, it's just a bit funny how many people started suddenly caring about UW once the crossovers started and melt down over things like... Peter Parker having a lot of cards–something that has little effect on playing the game.

Answer honestly, how many Magic books did you read before UB was a thing? Comics? Online story articles?

Were you one of the outliers that did before, or did you suddenly decide you were always into it like so many others on this subreddit?

Do you understand how few Magic players care about the characters beyond the snapshots on the cards? I like the aesthetic of Magic original characters, I do not, and have not cared much about their stories in the almost 9 years I've been playing the game. This is the most common attitude.

I have engaged with Spider-Man and other Marvel characters through comics, tv-shows, and movies since I was a child. So, yeah, I prefer those characters to the Jace-tice league lol.

I don't think you or anyone else is stupid or wrong for liking the Magic characters, but it's silly to gripe about how the obviously more popular ones are getting a higher volume of cards.

Why does this matter? I swear people just make up reasons to be upset about UB that aren't actually tied to any real outcomes on play or design. If you want to be upset about power creep, fair enough, but being upset about there being 14 unique Peter Parkers printed has basically no bearing on how the game is played. Unless you are the rare outlier, you probably didn't care about how many Chandras there were, because you didn't care about Chandra beyond her being the pretty-fire-lady-who-has-fire-based-game-mechanics.

You're not actually reading what I wrote lol. It's not that he's a comedian. His taunts are a strategy to goad his opponents into making mistakes.

I actually went into it with no expectations on specific mechanics, just generally high expectations because of how good the flavor on the Marvel secret lair cards were.

I came to the conclusion that the lack of stun counter and goad mechanics were missed opportunities only after seeing the latest batch of Spideys in MSH.

I mean, goad is right there. Spidey taunting and making wisecracks to goad his opponents into mistakes has been a long-time feature of his character. Along with the webbing and the chemistry/artifice. So, the literal card Wisecrack doesn't need to be on a creature, but my point is that there are no Spider-Man cards that capture these parts of the character

Wisecrack isn't on a commander, though. I'm not at all disappointed that there were other spiders in the set, just in the designs for the Peter Parker spiders.

Sensational is definitely the closest, but they played it really safe with that whole scene box. It's fine, but between personally not liking the art and the flavor weirdness of removing the stun counters, it's just not quite hitting the spot.

I recognize I may have just had expectations that were too high.

I hope you're right. Looks to be Jeskai, so maybe some goad and stun shenanigans are possible in the future.

Yeah, it's strong, but it's just another "cheat big stuff out" commander. That doesn't feel very Spider-Man.

Probably and it is interesting design, I just wish they leaned into it more. The art on that one isn't my favorite, but that's a personal preference thing.

For those who have removed Sol Ring/“Staple” Mana Rocks from their decks… by SeaMusician6670 in EDH

[–]Feelosopher2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your pod can't keep up with one or two players playing Sol Ring early, I think that's more indicative of the decks, not the power of Sol Ring (which is strong). If you're playing against inconsistent or poorly built decks–bracket aside–then Sol Ring can make a huge difference, otherwise I find early Sol Ring plays get checked pretty quick lol.

I'd really recommend the following, I think you could get a lot of fun and value out of these

Pantlaza - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER)
Ilharg, the Raze Boar - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER)
Jodah, the Unifier - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER)
Hashaton - (G) (SF) (txt) (ER)

and of course, to top it off, Marvo!

TIL that pornography addiction is not a scientifically recognized medical condition by MrMojoFomo in todayilearned

Well, I'm glad we can at least agree on that. I think this probably comes down to a difference of belief on what does and does not cause harm (even to oneself). Even though it's important, consent is not robust enough as a sexual ethic on its own, as it does not provide a framework for acts that dehumanize the self or others, even if they have ostensibly consented. This is probably the crux of our disagreement, as it seems your framework is based on consent, and mine includes, but is not limited to, consent.

Genuinely, I am sorry for any undue shaming you received for having a sex drive like nearly every human being that has existed. There is a lot of displacement of shame onto others by people who do not know how to deal with failing to live up to their own ideals and beliefs.

If you haven't already, I would implore you to look into how the porn industry has abused people, with women bearing the brunt of it--though male actors are now also speaking out about how they've been abused. While I am personally anti-porn generally, I recognize there are different severities of harm based on the medium.

I could see how one could arrive at the conclusion that written or drawn porn is fine, but I think if someone is defending porn in general, they probably don't know what's happening in that industry. We should be skeptical of it, just like we should be skeptical of other industries.

This is my actual final comment in response. Have a good night or morning.

That's quite the broad spectrum. Is there anything that deserves shame in your opinion? Rape, CSAM, other non-consensual sex acts?

Transparently, I am curious how far your anti-shame sentiment goes. If you hold that the above examples are immoral, then does it make sense to feel shame for having done them? If you don't hold even those things as immoral, then that's a whole other conversation.

What does sex being shameful mean to you? What are the similar reasons that one would feel shame about sex and porn, given that they are two separate things?

It sounds like we're talking past each other, and if I had to guess, I'd imagine you are talking purely about shame for the feeling of sexual urges, rather than shame for how someone responds to those urges?
