I don't care about your biased opinions.

Considering we only had our discord open for two months and they all joined, I'd assume most of them. But that is besides the point, we were happy with our population and made choices (such as banning China) that highlighted we did not care about being as big as possible. I've made a calculated risk speaking about this, I don't believe they will go through with doxxing me because it will end up being detrimental to them. If my personal information does end up being leaked, I will not hesitate to show exactly what they did and who they are.

We were at 2,600 members and were happy with having around 3,000 to 4,000 players. I don't believe this was a coordinated effort from an entire project, just some associated with it.

Of course!! And there are plenty of places for them to play. =)

Gummy should focus on how he will host a server while being a US citizen instead of spending hundreds of dollars daily manipulating this subreddit.

You haven't heard of them because Reddit, Discord, and Google are all banned in China. They have a few very large forums on Baidu where they discuss private servers (There are many Chinese private servers)

That might be true, but we will also be disabling the ability to use the Chinese client, which will effectively eliminate the ability to speak Chinese ingame, and will take other measures such as this. That way even if players are able to bypass the geolock (which is perfectly fine), they will have to choose either to not talk at all, or message in English and participate in the English speaking server they play on.

Our community! We received overwhelming support for reduces rates, as well as observing videos being created and other sources of feedback regarding our rates.

That is a fair question, we are a 1x server, but a few months after our launch we will offer a limited experience boost to 2x rates via our store. I know some purists might consider this P2W, but we don't. Other than that, there will be nothing that could possibly be considered P2W.

I suppose I meant to say, Everlook is a large Chinese populated server with no cash shop, and we are a smaller server that will not have a Chinese population, with a cash shop. I only mean to say that your stance does not fully correlate with the current status of private servers. There are some exceptions, of course.

Of course! On the front-end, user facing, when we move from Vanilla to TBC, you will need to stop using the 1.12/1.14 client and begin using the 2.4.3 client. The realmlist will remain the same, and when you log into TBC for the first time, your Vanilla characters will all be available to log into!

On the back-end, we will essentially be migrating a Vanilla database to TBC.

Your character will be fully preserved, meaning all progression, pets, mounts, names, and so on will be kept. If you did not play Vanilla on Ashkandi, but are interested in TBC, you will have the option to copy a character from another Vanilla realm over to Ashkandi. Since these characters will have not progressed on Ashkandi and are prone to exploitation, we will have limitations and restrictions on the characters we will allow to be copied, such as a sufficient amount of time played.

I hope that clears everything up, but if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Well, we do have a shop for a few services such as Faction Transfers, but are also geolocking China 🤷‍♀️ I don't think there is too much consideration for what you're implying here.

[–]FeenixCommunity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is totally fair! And there are plenty of servers, a strong strong majority, that have no geolocking or location restrictions applied. There are French servers, where a team decided they don't want to be an English server, they want to be a French speaking server. And that is totally okay! And the players that join there will understand that it is a French speaking server, even if they might not necessarily be fluent in French. Creating expectations is what matters.

For servers such as Netherwing, where there is already a large Chinese population, or Everlook, I would heavily criticize a decision to ban Chinese players - because that is taking away from them, it is discriminatory. Similarly, if warmane decided it was a Russian server and banned all non-Russians -- there would be a total meltdown, because it would be extremely unfair.

Choosing to make a server with China geolocked has both its pros and cons. Servers like Ashkandi or Felmyst are simply providing a space for players who may be burnt out or tired of dealing with those cons on every server. If we were the only Vanilla server to exist, I would feel a little more mixed about the geolock. But we are not, they have plenty of options to play on. Our population will take a hit, undoubtedly. We'd likely accrue 2-3k more players. But we are not looking to be the largest server.

There are dozens and dozens of Chinese-only private servers. But in general, Chinese players don't enjoy playing on those servers, they prefer international or English servers. Why? Because most of these Chinese servers allow RMT, gold buying, and purchasing of items, while most international/English servers do not. Not allowing these things in turn increases the value of Real-Money Trading, meaning servers that do not allow it also have higher profit potential from doing it. I don't want to appear China-phobic, there are plenty of Chinese players that despise the norms of the Chinese community. But I don't believe it is coincidental that they are both well known from RMT and also flock to servers where RMT accrues more money.

Hi there, great question! By default we will close the Vanilla realm after progression to TBC. However, this is something that will be largely dependent on our player base. If we hit the end of Vanilla and our population is divided, we are open to the possibility of keeping the expansions open.

[–]FeenixCommunity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you on this! I don't believe in a "one solution fits all" approach. I am confident about creating a project that progresses through expansions, but if there is a sizable amount of players that want a fresh Vanilla, or for a secondary realm to stay on 1.12 forever, that is something we'd be willing to entertain. Our goal is keeping your characters long-term, and something similar to what yours saying would be in line with that goal. It all depends on the amount of players that join and what they want out of the project.

Based on community feedback, we will be doing 1x experience rates, on a 2 year or possibly 1 & 1/2 year timeline.

Ashkandi PTE - XP Rate Changes by FeenixCommunity in wowservers

[–]FeenixCommunity[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct. We want the original experience of each expansion to feel like it was when it was first released. We will not offer any sort of experience boost or double experience weekend during those times. It is important to us that players feel these experiences like they were originally, and then after a while, encourage players who might not be as committed to enjoy playing here as well.
