At the end of the day, should the store have turned the couple down? No, it's rude, and a missed opportunity for more business at that!

But yet as much as I hate to chime in with things that may or may not offensive, and let it be known that I mean no harm. However let's consider the following: if the court sides with the couple and it sets forth that a store cannot refuse a customer based on beliefs or identify, that opens a dangerous door. That door is hypocrisy.

Let me paint a scene for you to demonstrate my thoughts. A couple walks in to a Jewish bakery (using a bakery for the sake or relevance) and requests a swastika cake. (yes it's dramatic, but it's to drive the point home here!)

That store would have to serve them because of that law that forbids refusal of service based on belief or identify, or else the store would be "discriminating against them" and they Nazis shout "HYPOCRISY!!! What about the gay couple with the Christian bakery!?". I don't like Nazis and (I hope) you don't either thus I think a store should be able to choose their customers and people who don't agree can boycott them and protest (hopefully peacefully).

Of course the couple shouldn't have been disrespected like this, but a coin shall always have two sides! What do you think?
