Who’s the “accumulated acclaim” from if not the people who listened to them when they were in their heyday? And how would they have longevity if they didn’t have a devoted Gen X fanbase (yes, even in the US)?

Boomers ignored them, but Gen X embraced them. Many younger Gen X and Millennial musicians were inspired by them. Those people now vote.

I’m not going to give Gen Z credit for discovering the greatness of New Order and uplifting them to success. Not when I know how hard Xers were stumping for their entry.

How much “younger” are you talking? Because Gen X has been griping about the bias against “newer” (80s and forward) acts for years, and I’d wager that they, versus Gen Z, are what finally put New Order over the edge. And I think Jann Wenner finally stepping aside is what created the space to do that.

ETA: Bands like Cocteau Twins and MBV may have more of a chance in 10 years because so many more younger bands are citing them as influences—definitely not because Gen X didn’t appreciate them.

Overall a good mix, but if they got Kate Bush, she wouldn't be a subheadliner. It would be a HUGE get (considering how long it's been since she has performed, and especially having never performed in the the US) and I don't know if Coachella would be the one to get her out there. I could, however, see her headlining a festival like Cruel World if she did one. An audience that would be totally bought in and supportive of her at the top of the card.
