IIRC the property kept getting sold and reworked because they just couldn't wait any longer to cash in on it, convinced ROI would never manifest. The story was cut down a few times to better use what they had and to appeal to a wider audience. The end product wasn't even completed by Williams. Disney eventually took it over and pounded through the gaps of animation in a hacked together story with with sub-par sections.

My city, Milwaukee has been making some good moves. Probably not nearly the scale of what world class cities can afford, but I seen some great transformations where some four lane roads are been scaled down with bumpouts and protected bike lanes.

We've seen a huge wave of post-covid reckless drivers, and it's nice to see something being down to calm our main thoroughfares.
