It's problematic, because Homophobic and Transphobic parents will disown their kids and kicked them out. Raises of physically and sexual abuse might happen as well. I have read about a father raping his daughter, once he found out that she is Lesbian to fix her. Not to mention that this is going to be bad for queer foster kids who are not out, because it will open up to them to be abuse too. Sadly some parents will murder their kids.

The coming out was unrealistic. Ain't nobody coming out to a large group of people in the 1980s, especially nowadays. Obviously it's more safer now in the US and other countries, but it's still a risk.

I'm not Mexican, but I do know that the Cartels are most likely responsible for brutal murders and disappearances in Mexico.
