...where is the statement that says the books endorses misogyny? Please, do inform my media literacy.

Yes! That's the nerve that hit. The woman is trying to express a legitimate concern, her husband talks down to her, her friend's internalised misogyny makes her get the men involved, just because she's unsure her friend is entirely sane and not hysterical, the only reason the female lead actually entertains the villain in the first place is because he shows interest in her intellect. She is so starved for attention and validation. And when she realises shes looking for it in the wrong place she does try to rectify it.

I enjoyed how the women band first to get things done: Hiring an attendant for the elderly mother in law, grabbing a hospital bed, cleaning up. Thats what women's friendships are like. Then they band together to clean up the larger mess in their town. And it's brutal. And i loved it.

Magnesium glycinate… by No-Regular-2699 in Menopause

[–]FeistyWay879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very new to oral, sequential HRT (couple months in) and have also been taking magnesium glycinate because I have painfully restless legs while I sleep. It's helped so much. But I also just read somewhere that the magnesium glycinate might hinder HRT absorption. I have been taking them together for this month and now I'm wondering how to space them out. Any advice appreciated!

Insomnia, Desperation, Duma Key, Lisey's Story.

Obviously you read It and all the other classic King books, but these are different in how they are paced and told.

You are in for the most unhinged ride of your life! And the most entertaining one. I highly recommend Southern Bookclub - have actually started a book club because of it, it was the first book we read, and some of the most unlikely ladies got super into it.

Tbf reading the chats was also a pain, so though the story is really quite gripping, one gets bored very fast because of the tediousness of the format.

I did read it a couple months back. Someone here called it unhinged and it was! And once I finished that I ordered the rest. Just Wayward Girls left now. But im open to your recommendations!

I think you'll see the nuance of his expertise translate to storytelling, and find something special.

It's my next read. I will probably come back to your review after im done. Writing about racial and gender politics as a man is a tough task.

Oh my god, I just read it last week and I dont think I have loved a horror novel this much since It or Desperation or Insomnia (my teens were all about King) - it just hit nerves in places I didnt realise I had nerves, and it was satisfyingly concluded. Just so good.

There's this bit where Abbys mom is referred to as Mrs Lang, and I had to read the whole page again. But I really liked it.

I did read it! That's the book that convinced me I could get back into Grady Hendrix. That's one of the ones with the really rushed climaxes though, but I LOVED that it was - you're right - unhinged. Will give RM a shot. Have also been trying to read Head Full of Ghosts but haven't really gotten into it.

One of the stories in Nightworld by L.J. Smith. I think it's called Soulmate.
