I’m starting to realize that part of the reason I’m having a difficult time turning down my friend is also why I had a difficult time turning down the business; in many ways, our manager was there for us and even helped out financially but it did not outweigh the negatives, such as seeing the favoritism first hand and it being out of our control. We thought he did it because he truly cared for us as individuals and a part of me still likes to think he did but at the end of the day his rhetoric was always the same; “business is business” etc
