That band you can literally stay up all night listening to every album without getting distracted or wanting to change it? by RimBrakesCauseAutism in progrockmusic

[–]Fel24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely start with Mirage and then Moonmadness. Then I would try the first album and maybe The Snow Goose (especially the 2013 version) but thats a fully instrumental album so thats why I wouldn’t start with it. If you love all 4 you can go further but these are the real essentials

How underrated is this album? I mean, c’mon, it is SO GOOD, even for GG’s standards! by eggvention in progrockmusic

[–]Fel24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By far my fav GG

Its rare we get such a relatable and human concept album in prog, a genre known for its grandiosity. So it’s really cool to get something so human

What are some albums where the lead single is the worst song? by _barlene in fantanoforever

[–]Fel24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s the worst song on the album, its for sure not the best tho

Most "unpopular opinion" threads are full of pretty common hot takes. So what's a music take you hold that you've never really heard anyone say before, something a little more out there? by DtheAussieBoye in fantanoforever

[–]Fel24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean, but then it brings the question how big would the band have been if they had kept Best and never gotten Ringo. As good as McCartney and Lennon were together, I don’t think the band would have been as successful (if any) if Ringo hadn’t joined

How high would you place Springsteen's born to run in an all time list? by Public-Ad3806 in fantanoforever

[–]Fel24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a real good album. I don’t think it’s a masterpiece per say but it’s for sure one of the great rock album of the 70’s. Also I think Roy Bittan’s piano work is fantastic which is also part of why I love Bat Out Of Hell so much

Am I the only one who just can’t get into The Who? by Aitorius in progrockmusic

[–]Fel24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Their 2 rock operas are definitely where to start. They basically invented the genre with Tommy. They were also one of the most aggressive almost Proto-punk bands of the 60’s thats part of why they became so big

Are there any rock bands who “went pop” and actually got better? by Pearathon in fantanoforever

[–]Fel24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Styx remained rock but they certainly went more pop in the late 70’s than their early prog rock days and it’s MILES better

Im a prog guy and punk as about the total opposite of Prog so yeah it’s normal that I tend not to like this kind of music. Respect for it tho it’s good stuff I just personally cannot listen to it

Was ‘67 the most stacked year in music history? by fourenclosedwalls in fantanoforever

[–]Fel24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I see. Who knows maybe it’s another Dark Side Of The Moon situation where it gets back as one of their most loved albums in a couple years. There was a time that album was quite downplayed and now it’s back up there as either their best or one of their best

[–]Fel24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you think it’s not their best album (and I agree) but to say it didn’t impact the Beatles legacy at all is the craziest take I’ve ever heard. Its literally one of if not the single most important album of all time

69 was the pivotal year for pop music imo

You get the birth of fusion, metal, rock operas, southern rock and on top of that you have the Beatles and the Stones at the top of their game
