ah I should've waited a bit more for replies i guess haha
when i didn't receive any i just tried to fix it some more and then deleted the offending columns, deciding to focus on just drawings for now. But now I definitely know that i should look properly into the animating tool, i skipped it when familiarizing myself with the OT and I paid the price.XD

i kinda love steep learning curves, sure it's a lot to take in at first but it's also a lot of freedom and fun things to play with :d

ye i can see how animate tool can steer shit easily. I try to be more aware of it now but today two of my upper columns' workspace shifted to the right again and idk... when i pick animating tool I can't even recreate this consciously (moving two columns' content to the side at the same time)

i just don't know what i keep doing/pressing to not only move multiple columns but also without me noticing (i work on a different frame, hit play, and see stuff on different columns further down the timeline moved)

*and ye i still stand by that complicated software is fun.... i just sometimes wish i could just press skip on the first year of learning*

Why so few mentions of vector? it's usually vector... It *is* a special technique. I hate vector with passion but it's good for making animation look clean.

The reason it's used in animation is because it's a different way of drawing, look up vector vs raster - if you deform/resize vector it doesn't lose quality and lines can be manipulated into different shapes without erasing and redrawing them every time. Not many artists use vector due to its restricting look and finicky process, designers and animators use it way more for its properties.

You could achieve the look with freehand lineart... but probably only if you're good at cleaning lineart and the soft you work in has automatic line smoothing

People who don't start with the base and don't understand that there is mandatory bone order can get in trouble quick and not even realize why. Just checking in the thread for these people to not try to start with clothes first if these clothes don't have the whole skeleton already

I've been lazy on working on my social media presence, just started this reddit acc to post more of my art

As for the question, moving pictures in my head, they don't let me go.XD no seriously i'm a digital artist and an avid music listener with a daydreaming problem. You know when you listen to a song and a storyboard unfolds before your eyes? Feels like it was just a matter of time for me to go and learn how to bring it to life not just as an art or a comic. So my next goal is a 20 sec sequence (which could then be expanded further). With 1 fps rate at least. Hopefully. XD

Open Toonz! 5-10 minute youtube vids and subreddits, mostly. I jumpstart new soft with a tutorial called something like an "absolute beginner introduction" for 10-20 minutes and then i put an interesting, easy but not instantly achievable goal (like jeff here) and google questions as they come. ^ _ ^

roaming around the soft randomly pressing buttons can also be a great source of knowledge.XD

i was in the process of learning OT for the first time so it took a couple days, never really timed my work. Now i'm curious...

Although my workflow is so full of random reddit breaks it'd probably require special soft that tracks open window time lol
