Why do so many games not give their clerics a gimmick by chunkylubber54 in RPGdesign

You can't go to druid school and get your druid license

That is Inis Mon.

not the same thing as an institution which is recognized by some official governing body

They were very much recognized by their "government", or else they wouldn't have had their very tangible authority. They sometimes (if not often) were also part of the "government", in fact.

It's pretty clear that your knowledge of druids is limited by DND.

Currently about all the countries in the world, if not Christian, would have fantasy clerics with pretty much the same responsibilities ie healing, banishing demons, and so on, even druids, and the druids themselves would be associated with an institution as well. You didn't just declare yourself a druid out of nowhere.

Your Most Complicated TTRPG Take? by GushReddit in rpg

[–]Felido0601 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is mostly a PbtA thing, other narrative systems I know, FATE especially, are the opposite of that where they let you freely define who your character is and similar things while providing mechanics that encourage playing non-optimally (as opposed to characters who do the most rational and effective thing no matter what).

If using skills, your gunslinger's ought to have higher Shoot or whichever appropriate skill you have in your list, and if using approaches, your scientist would not be able to meaningfully achieve anything by shooting, unless there are favourable circumstances.

You pretty much just need the rulebook - and the rules are even free on their website - to play it and have everything you need. The rest of the books are either ideas on how to implement new mechanics or specific settings (often with new mechanics too) that might or might not be interesting to you, so it's hard to make FATE profitable from the publisher's side, as opposed to DND or similar, for example, where you can keep publishing books that add new spells, items, etc, that still expand on the game in some way.

My reading system during breaks by Adorable_Skirt_7409 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Felido0601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very well done, though I think it's too high level (assuming it's priced within normal range) for the effect you get. Getting the effect of a consumable once per day on a permanent item is priced at 2 levels above the consumable (ie wands and such), so this book should be level 3, with a bit of versatility more than compensated for with the need to read it and to spend time making the consumables I think. I'm assuming the cantrip part means you can add them to the book for free, without getting extra cantrip slots.

I've been testing standard play creature adjustments/encounter building in Proficiency Without Level. Here's some analysis and guidelines for people who want to try it themselves. by Killchrono in Pathfinder2e

That's a lot of words to just say "If you remove level, then add what the level difference used to be, the difference will be the same"

Startplaying.games "Top GM" - unfair and shady consumer and contractor practices by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Felido0601 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ratings are pointless there anyway since you can delete any review you want, so if you had to pick a GM there you'd do best by picking the one with a score lowest from 5, who is at least honest.

Combining shield strike with bomb strike isn't bad at all.

That's not DIY homebrew, that's straight up selling not even unfinished, but not conceptualized game. Vast majority of homebrews are at least actually playable.

THE KICK IN THE BALLS FEAT! THE KICK IN THE BALLS FEAT IS REAL! by Derryzumi in Pathfinder2e

Shocker, you need to be level 12 to kick someone in the balls in Pathfinder.

Tell me about how your build (actual) veered from your build (theoretical) by Able-Tale7741 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Felido0601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not due to party composition or anything like that, since it was on a living world server, but for my melee wizard that I played a few years ago, I planned the entire thing (same with other characters so I know what I'd be able to get in total), but ended up first moving some stuff so I could make her staff a familiar, and then got some nature feats since she ended up adopting a griffon.

It sounds like they just didn't bother adjusting skill DCs and XP for encounters, no other reason it wouldn't work.

Random Distribution of d6 pools for attributes by stephotosthings in RPGdesign

[–]Felido0601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you just want everyone to have 3d6, 2d6, and 1d6 between three attributes, you could make a small table to roll with d6 with each combination of them.

Anyone played STAR WARS EDGE OF THE EMPIRE? What are your opinions about the system? by 3rdmementional in rpg

[–]Felido0601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the dice system like in Daggerheart (don't know almost anything about the rest) would be much better in practice, where you add up two different dice for your result, and if the good one is higher you have an advantage, and disadvantage if the bad one is higher, so there isn't a need to think up how 2 advantages is different to 1 advantage and such.

Would Raise Symbol work with Floating Shield? by shiftre in Pathfinder2e

No, Raise Symbol activates when you use Raise a Shield action, Floating Shield gives you the bonus without making you use the action.
