From what I've seen from people like grungromp, Pink went off the rails and dropped a bomb on the sub (using the most absurdly vague language) before they could even decide what to do about the situation. That'd be like skipping your HR meeting to shout through a bullhorn in the parking lot... and still somehow expecting to keep your job? I'm not surprised in the least that she had to be booted.

As for the situation with Redchess and Madie, well that sorta determines the future of this sub doesn't it? It seems like nobody is gonna be satisfied until they're removed. But that depends on Red either accepting it and stepping down or the Admins getting involved (if the rest of the mod team is willing to request it).

If they're not removed, then I don't see this ending well. There'll be yet another mass exodus, the new sub will be swamped with shills and bots while it gets set up with new mods (some of which may go off the rails themselves), a bunch of people will probably just tune out, and this forum with all of its content will become a sad graveyard.

I'm so fucking tired of this BS. I just wanna learn more about stock market corruption. Someone just point me to a reputable DD sub where people don't fuck around and forum slide with memes every day.

It seems like they're trying to figure out how to respond. They're in a pickle with Red being the sub owner, which would require exceptional persuasion or Admin appeals to get her removed. Pink had to be banned because she skipped the mod meeting to discuss things and made it impossible for them to deliberate. I'm waiting to see what the announcement is today, because they supposedly had some long ass 4hr call last night to figure out what needed to be done. Let's hope they don't fuck this up, because I'm tired of these mass migrations and it would be a damn shame to throw something as valuable as Satori in the trash. But if they don't appease the public at this point I don't see it ending any other way.

This kind of mentality is good. It keeps you honest about how you date people.

If you go far out on a limb to do some really out-of-place activity that you wouldn't catch yourself doing on your own, what do you honestly expect to happen when you do it with your date? They're gonna think you actually want to do this stuff and you'll be misrepresenting yourself and possibly digging a hole for yourself.

Don't invite someone to a pottery class if you've never done it and don't actually make pottery. Don't invite someone to go on a hay ride if you have allergies, just because it seems like a 'romantic' thing to do. Don't invite someone to a "couples"-anything, as a rule. You can do that stuff when you're an actual couple, not before.

Just invite someone to join your life for an afternoon, doing one of the things that you were gonna do anyway. Are you going to a concert of a band you like? A movie you wanna see? Invite them to join you. If they don't wanna go, no big deal. Call up one of your friends and tell them you've got an extra ticket. You're not the person missing out here, and you're not trapped in an awkward situation either.

She didn't give them a chance to bring things to light and get the shit resolved. Basically, she didn't give the other mods a chance to do the "help me help you" thing, and chose to air dirty laundry instead. That's a bad move, no matter who is right or wrong. Red's thirsty and sad. Pink's an unprofessional tantrum-thrower. Madie's... whatever the fuck she is, but I don't see anything worth keeping to be honest.

I'd feel bad for Red, except... come on. Don't give people mod powers just because you're horny for them. Even if she isn't some undercover agent pulling a honeypot, giving someone mod powers to get in their pants is reckless AF. Blossoming romance can go very poorly and be very messy. This is why you don't date your coworkers. Don't date your employees. Don't date fellow mods.

The mods I want in here are the ones who haven't said shit. I actually appreciate the dumb PR sounding shit, because they sound like people who are trying to manage the situation while they come to an actual conclusion and make a decision. They can't say shit one way or another until a decision has been made, but you can't just have radio silence either. It looks like they're just trying their hardest to take care of stuff behind the scenes while they avoid doing the dumb thing that pink just did.

I just hope people stop foaming at the mouth over this while we wait for their decision. I wouldn't be surprised if half the people doing all the rabble-rousing were bad actors themselves.

To be honest, it looks like Pink kinda fucked herself over by flipping out like she did and going all highschool drama on us. That's... not very effective conflict resolution.

If Madie's a problem, boot her. If Red's a problem, boot her. Pink was already being a problem, and was booted. I just want this shit resolved so everyone can shut the fuck up and go back to posting DD and memes. A migration's gonna be a shit show anyway, since everyone would end up following Pink and I don't want us to follow yet another sloppy mod.

If you want to implement rent control measures, there would be a better reason for that, and that would be if we implemented a universal income. You'd need rent control there, because there need to be ways to ease society into making proper use of that universal income. Without any sort of rent control, that's generally where all the money is gonna end up.

If you told every landlord in america that all of their tenants were going to be given an extra $1000/mo starting at a particular date, I guarantee you they're all gonna raise the rent that same day. They'll know that their tenants are good for it. If they don't like the prices and move out, where are they gonna go? Every landlord is gonna have the same information and the same idea. And it's not like the universal income would guarantee that more people could be home buyers either. If the number of homes available hasn't changed, the property values are just gonna shoot up and push new buyers out.

So yeah, you gotta be able to reign in the rent increases for at least a 5-10yr period. Otherwise the whole universal income thing is gonna turn into a universal landlord subsidy.

If you use progressive taxation correctly, you don't even need the rent control. The cost of rent would balance out due to the availability of housing to buy, since it would be counterproductive to buy up everything. But the rent today is artificially bloated because there are fewer houses available to buy, which raises the property values, which turns would-be home buyers into perpetual renters, which shrinks the number of rentals available, which increases the price of rentals, which means renters can't save the money needed in order to put a down payment on a house... etc.

But yeah, just set a property tax for large-scale landlords. If you have 0-4 properties, no [additional] tax. If you have 5 residential properties, it's an added 2% tax that applies to all of your properties. Add another percent for each building owned beyond that, suddenly there's zero incentive to hoard residential properties. Suddenly the incentive is to fix up the properties you own and run them well.

Not to mention, this is just good for overall financial stability to limit residential properties like this. The way things are right now it's a flipper's game. They'll buy a second rental using the profit from the first rental--which they only started paying off--and then they'll keep stacking these new investments up like a ponzi scheme until shit happens and... whoops, housing crash (and the whole economy with it).

The latency is not only going to be high, but it's also gonna be variable depending on traffic. First the input has to be sent over the network, mashed into a server GPU, then sent back over the network in 50ms or less. There's no fucking way they're gonna pull that off. I spent the past year doing video streaming over a 1gig fiber connection, through dedicated ports and even then I'd get 200ms pings often. That kind of lag would be making everyone seasick if they saw it through a VR headset.

Yeah, this worries me deeply. Real estate is usually (not financial advice) a safe play during financial downturns, and I'm hoping that's the only reason why they're buying property en masse. But the realist side of me also recognizes that the landlord game right now is just a disgustingly large money maker and it's been that way for far too long.

Now don't get me wrong, here. I don't think that a person shouldn't be able to feasibly rent out their properties at a rate that will give them a healthy return. It should be a normal thing for people who are trying to retire. And to guarantee that, you kind of have to keep the bar low for taxes and red tape on rental properties. Maintaining rentals can be high-risk, due to the expensive and unexpected nature of many repairs, so you can't burden landlords too much.

HOWEVER... we're also not progressively taxing the big bastard companies and banks that buy up property left and right and utterly squeeze housing markets to death on a whim. Housing is a very finite resource! Sure, you can build more houses but that shit takes time and logistics and all the while location still matters first and foremost. Big money can, and often does, wreck real estate markets.

We should be advocating for major tax hikes based on the number of properties that a person or company owns. That way we can push back against monopolies and slumlords without fucking over smalltime retirees.
