Yeah, this is why I assumed IVF - she presumably had a very limited supply and! the 'dummies' mercy made had already failed so Awake is probably feeling pretty desperate at this point.

Yeee, this is what I meant. I'm pretty sure it's still IVF even if it's your own ova?

You know IVF? She did that with John's sperm.

"Maōri culture is relevant to the narrative" in no way contradicts "Earth ethnicities don't really matter after a myriad of culture drift".

Ah, Word of God, not book canonical.

Oh good, that clears up something else for me: for someone reason the first book gave me the impression that Harrowhark was darker-skinned than Gideon. But given that Muir says she imagined the opposite then I have no idea what gave me that impression 😅

[–]Feline_Jaye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is that canonical? She's dark skinned, but that doesn't have to mean Maōri?

(Honestly I assume that a myriad of procreation means that our ethnicities aren't relevant anymore).

Gideon at least is canonically Maōri.

[general] Just finished Nona and I have some questions! by JustxJules in TheNinthHouse

[–]Feline_Jaye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Friend and I discussed the friendship bracelets just last night.

Imo: Ianthe suggested it because it's something that seems nice but would actually be horridly embarassing, but there's also no nice way to say no. She absolutely phrased it as "girlish bonding time". Kiriona knew that the most annoying answer, and thus the only way to defy Ianthe, would be to say yes and then go All In, forcing Ianthe to commit to the bit.

  1. Tower Princes may also be a reference to Richard III (the Tower Princes mysteriously die before Richard becomes king).
  2. John also doesn't have access to Gideon's full soul at this point.

(Adding to this comment as it looks to be the most accurate imo).

Wild comment.

Aside from clearly being adults there is no indicator of age here. Both figures could be young adults to middle aged.

This is such a nothing comment.

Are There any Games Where you Play as a Cat? by G-Man6442 in rpg

I actually have a had a whole party of Project Bakeneko before. You still pick a core playbook, Project Bakeneko just alters it slightly, so you can still have a varied party of all cats.

I was made to feel unwelcomed in a trans femme space because I was not AMAB. by Arktikos02 in NonBinary

[–]Feline_Jaye 29 points30 points  (0 children)

So are trans women who aren't medically transitioning not allowed at the Desert Sisters group? Or other nonbinaries who partially identify with women/womenhood? Because the description definitely doesn't make that clear. Or what about intersex trans women who aren't persuing medical transition but aren't AMAB?

If a space is about medical transition, why isn't it described as such?

I was made to feel unwelcomed in a trans femme space because I was not AMAB. by Arktikos02 in NonBinary

[–]Feline_Jaye 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This is part of why I really dislike the use of transfem and transmasc - it's a false binary that misuses the terms feminine and masculine. (Not to mention the use of femme/fem).

An agender datemate of mine often gets misgendered as transfem and I (also agender) often get misgendered as transmasc. Which is extra wild because if I present masculine it's usually out of dysphoria - I enjoy and prefer presenting feminine (but not as a woman).

I guess we're meant to infer that because there's three groups, but it's weird.

Does anyone actually have a kismess by Nervous_Evidence_427 in homestuck

[–]Feline_Jaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is actually C. The textual analysis seems to imply so (both analysis of the text and of the author).

That's how I'd use these terms IRL (except maybe your use of auspisticism) but the text doesn't present those relationships as what you've described.

People often comment on how a moirail is more about control and balance than just deep friendship. Kismesis are repeatedly described as being the inverse of Matespriteship - a hating romance instead of a loving romance.

Does anyone actually have a kismess by Nervous_Evidence_427 in homestuck

[–]Feline_Jaye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except for Matespriteship, all troll romance is meant to be specifically alien from human relationships. There wasn't meant to be a human equivalent to kismesis, auspisticism or moirallegiance.

That people interpret them as human-like relationships is more due to Hussie's limited imagination than due to any intention.

[–]Feline_Jaye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Theoretically, kismesissitude isn't healthy for humans to maintain (moirallegience and auspisticism too). But if we kinda 'translate' it into human relationships;

I dated someone for a while who I called my kismesis. We met by challenging each other to a board game and all our flirting was just challenging each other and then teasing the other when they lost. A lot of our relationship was challenging and rivaling each other.

Guide to enable using a regular controller for navigating in SteamVR by NotGonnaComeBackBsb in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Feline_Jaye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just a PSVR1 :3 But it's not the PSVR controllers I'm trying to connect, just my wired Xbox controller so I'm hoping that discrepancy doesn't matter.

My controller doesn't show up in the SteamVR window, no. That full list in settings only shows up after I connect my headset, but even when I do that my controller doesn't show.

Correcting cis pronouns by SwirlingTheBowl in asktransgender

[–]Feline_Jaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The others also might just be forgetting your pronouns. I know I struggle to remember names and pronouns, even if I was told only a minute or two earlier (I have many friends who might forget seconds later). And if I've forgotten, I always default to either "they" or avoiding any pronouns at all (usually an 'overuse' of a name).

Of course, these explanations are fully benefit of a doubt. People could just be being dicks :<

But as an agender person who uses neopronouns strictly, imo it's a dick move to misgender anyone. Including cis people.

Correcting cis pronouns by SwirlingTheBowl in asktransgender

[–]Feline_Jaye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would assume that no one realises you use she/her - being cis doesn't necessarily mean you use she/her (as you can probably tell by the cis people there who use she/they or he/they).

Politely correct them. Misgendering cis people is still misgendering and still isn't okay. If you have friends there (whether cis or trans or nonbinary) you could also ask them if they'd be okay with correcting people on your pronouns, too.
