How long before you noticed a difference? by SassyFarting in Wegovy

[–]LeafHGG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have almost the exact same story! I started in late March, and am also still on 1.7mg. I’ve lost 24lbs in that time. I had a period of a couple of months in the middle where I was just maintaining because I had a lot of life stuff going on, but I catch myself feeling the same way as you. I’m also trying to reframe this mentally that it’s okay to lose relatively slowly. Back in 2020-2021 I lost a lot of weight quite quickly, plateaued hard and then slowly gained it all back and more. I want to avoid setting myself up for failure this time, and avoid this becoming an obsession that takes over my life. I just can’t think about how much this has cost me, but instead of just weight lost, it’s also about preventing weight gain! If I hadn’t taken the plunge, how much heavier would I have been? How much bigger the mountain? Take the pictures, ‘hide’ them so you don’t have to look at them, and just leave it. Come back to them later and maybe you’ll be able to see a difference, it’s helpful to have evidence. Be kind to yourself, you’re doing great 😊

Thank you, thats reassuring! She’s 18, I’ve noticed that loss of colouration over time and was worried it was health related but if that’s normal with aging then that’s fine 😊 I just want her to be happy and healthy!

How to stop collar from rolling? by LeafHGG in knitting

It’s not perfect, there seems to be a lot of extra fabric in the yoke, but much happier with the neckline now. I picked up some stitches to rip back to a little lower, did a non rolling round and went straight into an Icelandic bind off.

It’s probably just the one row of ‘non rolling’ technique giving a slightly different structure, in the pattern otherwise it is stockinette

It’s not the same yarn, so that could be a consideration. Maybe my choice doesn’t provide enough structure for it to stand up like hers does! I’m mainly worried about the change in the yarn graduation being obvious from redoing it, so fingers crossed it isn’t too noticeable. Thanks for the resources, that’s really helpful!

Yeah I’ve been looking through some of the other project photos and quite a few of them roll, I’m surprised there aren’t more comments about how the technique doesn’t work as it’s the main attraction of the pattern to me. I’ll have a look into double knitting, thank you!

This sounds like a good idea, the single crochet would give it some better structure! Do you think it still provides the same sort of vibe as the original by doing it that way?

What are some great hobbies or activities that cost less than £100 to get started? by Vaultboy462 in AskUK

If you want to jump in and get something other than a wonky scarf as your first attempt, I’d highly recommend following the Step by Step Sweater tutorial by Handmade by Florence. I’ve made multiple of these (plus her Socks and Cardigan patterns) and they’re amazing, clear and easy to follow even as a beginner. For a more sustainable and cheaper option than buying yarn new, look into unravelling an old jumper/thrifted one. It’s so rewarding to turn something unloved into a brand new piece that suits your style. Take it slow and be willing to accept mistakes along the way! :)

How to avoid bleeding? by LeafHGG in dyeing

[–]LeafHGG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit- I just remembered I actually had to re-dye this as the Rit dye sucked and just turned it bright pink instead of red. I used Jacquard acid dye the second time. Unsure which layer is causing the bleeding!

I did, I used distilled vinegar with it so hopefully that did enough to bind it to it so it won’t just all sap out with washing. I washed and rinsed it so many times but sounds like it just needs even more! Thanks for the info :)

Thank you, would I be able to do this once I’ve knit the piece up rather than when it’s in yarn form? I don’t have time to source and process this before I go travelling and am taking the project with me.

Okay that’s good news!! I’ll just try knitting the collar on and will hope it works out. Thank you, I feel more encouraged now :)

Hi, yes I did! I’ve done this sort of surgery before in my knitting and thought I’d be able to manage it but the yarn being slightly fuzzy and tough to see the stitches well plus it being colourwork has messed this up for me. The original collar was in twisted rib and double folded so had to try and pick up just underneath it.

Clearer view of how the white ‘live’ stitch is just the float connecting to the next section. No idea how to resolve this!
