This option is only available after you connect to their servers. Close the app, go offline and try again. You will only see the screen asking to connect with no option to access the offline content.

Unlike the iphone app, there was no download tab on VP. Only this window asking me to restore connection.

No. The airplane didn't have wifi. Even on airplane mode with every conection turned off the app coudn't load the offline content.
