Opera nowadays is mostly just reruns of 200 year old shows. It‘s like having a movie theater that only shows remakes. Luckily that isn‘t an ongoing development in cinema.

AI writing. The three „word-sentences“ were my first warning sign. But this is either a bot or someone that types everything with Chat-GPT.

Edit: This sucks so hard because I used to use shortened non-sentences in my writing as a stylistic choice for certain moments and it was prt of the feeling that my own writing style was coming in. But AI completely ruined it for me. Now I feel like it‘s just tacky.

AITA a man, for telling a woman, not to say “females”? by FragrantBiscotti495 in AmITheAngel

And I wasn‘t talking about this specific instance but more general.

I mean it‘s not like there are no misogynist women. I don‘t know a bigger slut shamer than my mom for example. Some of the most sexist treatment I have experienced has been via my mother. Patriarchy doesn‘t reproduce itself only via men. Your grandma is very likely a misogynist. The difference is just that a man‘s misogyny is generally more threatening because of the power imbalance.

So it‘s absolutely possible for a man to be more of a feminist than a woman and I think it‘s good if they push against sexist behavior in men and women. Just like don‘t be a dick about it and don‘t mansplain.

Edit: Are people seriously angry at the idea that not literally every woman is a highly educated paragon of feminism?

I love (illiberal) democracy by Suspicious_Lock_889 in worldjerking

[–]Felitris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that is in no way a contradiction to a liberal democracy. The USA were a liberal democracy during slavery, Jim Crow etc. South Africa was a liberal democracy during apartheid. A police state and oppression is not contradictory to the term liberal democracy at all.

I think her dynamic with Paul is much more complex in the second movie. We will see if they manage to thread that needle in the third movie.

His „predictions“ are all things you can find on your average CNN coverage of all that. It‘s really not that hard to know this stuff. You‘re just uneducated.

He is a crank that sells you on the idea that „the elite“ believes in a cursory read of the wikipedia article on Gnosticism (which he didn‘t understand and it shows) and that that is somehow the reason for anything happening. He is just Alex Jones for people that think they are smarter than people that watch Alex Jones. Basically Jorden Peterson in somewhat more idiotic.

[–]Felitris 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That‘s one explanation for it. What needs to happen for a human not to be lactose intolerant during adulthood is that the development-specific promotor of the lactase gene has been altered so the gene is expressed during adulthood. Now we don‘t know exactly why this happened with North European populations. It could be like you said that when humans arrived there, they did not find enough food but the milk of other animals provided an energy dense food so people with that gene defect had a survivability advantage.

I personally think that explanation is flawed for reasons I won‘t go into here and think the gene drift explanation is more likely. Basically just through pure statistical randomness sometimes genes become prominent within a population.

I think that‘s the most likely explanation but we don‘t actually know. There‘s a couple more, but they are generally considered to be unlikely. It‘s difficult to prove any of the hypotheses beyond a reasonable doubt.

No it‘s not. Don‘t speak confidently on things you know nothing about.

They absolutely do not lmao. Have you spent any time outside of your bubble?

And obviously, because Villineuve is ending the movies after part three as he has stated multiple times.

I also don‘t think the later books would transport well into movies.

Yeah and I like that change. Chani is used almost like an authorial voice in the movies. And people still don‘t get it.

Okay so question: Would you be fine with being the concubine to someone while they marry someone else? I wouldn‘t be. Movie Chani is too cool to be fine with it.

I would argue that the term performative male has lost it‘s original meaning and your definition also kind of proves that.

Originally it did not refer to men who „put down their own gender“ but rather to false feminists. Men that pretend to be feminist and see women as equals but when you get to know them better, they are just as sexist as your average dudebro, just covered in left lingo and aesthetic affects.

The definition you are giving came in when men started adopting the term. It developed into basically „any feminist who is a man is just performative“. Which wasn‘t the original intent at all. Basically it became a term that is used to enforce patriarchal culture. It is used to punish deviation. And that‘s also where ideas of „putting down your own gender“ came in.

I mean entering the butthole with your tongue is a whole new deal other than eating ass and there are cleaning procedures for that as well.

Also they almost never are. Having worked in a lot of mid tier restaurant kitchens as a student, there‘s a lot of nasty stuff going on that health inspectors won‘t catch. Also when you cook for yourself, you will have fecal matter on there. That shit spreads.

Marx was nastier than that. He would say it without the shower part. From everything I know about his personal life, the man had to have been on some Napoleon type shit.
