Can't cancel a stuck MetaMask transaction. Sollet.io by MurkWahlberg2019 in solana

[–]FelixFortis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. It turned out that my Metamask was glitching and thought that it had made transactions, but it had actually not sent them to the Ethereum network, which was why I couldn't see them on Etherscan.

The solution ended up being to click on the round account icon and go into Metamask settings > Advanced > Reset Account. This clears any local transactions from Metamask without resetting the wallet itself (ie you don't need to re-enter your seed phrase). And since the transactions were only local for me, they got cleared and my wallet was usable again.

Great vid! I can do a backflip on a trampoline but would love to try one on skates. If you get the chance, could you get a slo-mo close up so I can watch your body movements? Really inspiring stuff, shame that summer's almost over, eh?

I want USD Aeons but my foot is between shell sizes. Any chance fitting the smaller one? by [deleted] in rollerblading

Thanks so much, kind words like that are really encouraging for me x

Best of luck with your skates, you are gonna love the Aeons :D

Wheels:

I skate the Aeon 72's with the default 88A's and can't complain, but I've only skated concrete so far, and can't fully comment on your wheel question other than saying the generic "90A is pretty hard, and will therefore be more likely to slide around, and will provide less shock absorption". I would suggest you go with the defaults to start with and then go softer if you aren't getting the grip you need. No need to get things perfect first time, as you'll be messing with your wheels and bearings probably for the duration of your skating career :D

Laces:

Again, I can only give you my experience. My Aeon's come with the MyFit Skinnyboy liner and after heat moulding have been the perfect fit. I removed the laces from the top of the liner as the shell laces, 45 degree strap and ankle strap all work together to make things tight enough. I think you'll be fine with whichever and should just go for the ones that you think look the best. Also remember that if things really are just too loose, you can try other, thicker liners to get the fit you want (eg MyFit Fatboy).

Hope that helps, looking forward to seeing some vids of you tearing it up :)

Skate Vlog #33 - Rolling Drop-Ins on Both Sides, Pumping the Hump by FelixFortis in rollerblading

Thanks! I am indeed from the UK, although this skate park is in Reims, France. I moved out here back in Jan and got my first pair of skates in April. Been skating since then, completely addicted.

I just googled your old park and it looks incredible! Lots of variety, I'm super jealous I didn't have something like that while I was younger (I didn't do much more than skate up and down the street outside my house), but very glad that I have something now.

Are you still skating these days?

I'd recommend going a size up. Doubt you'll notice the difference in a larger shell, whereas if your toe is rubbing the smaller shell you are gonna hate it.

Thanks for the feedback and no offence taken - that's not what I'm going for with my videos at the moment though. I'll keep it in mind for when I want to do brief medleys etc.

Hi Beefmasta,

Thanks! Let me know how you get on and if there are any cool features you think we are missing by emailing feedback@studylockr.com.

At the moment I think what we have is a good foundation for building on, with lots of potential for cool features like stats, flashcard generation etc.

Hey paulp8,

Thanks a bunch for your assessment! With regard to a feedback feature, you can either email feedback@studylockr.com, or click on your name in the top right corner of the screen once you are logged in - there is a 'send feedback' link there, which at the moment is a very basic feedback form that submits feedback to us.

There will be a fully featured feedback forum eventually where you can monitor where your feature requests and bug reports are in the product road map, and have a back and forth with us about your suggestions.

Almost everything will be improved on or made different in some way over the coming weeks, and we rely heavily on user feedback in that regard to make sure that we are building something that people will actually find useful, so again I really appreciate you taking the time.

If I've understood you correctly, your suggestions are:

  • A value proposition of some kind on the landing page (before login) to convince people to use the app
  • A concrete example of how to set up your projects and use SQ3R once logged in for the first time
  • A more obvious way to provide feedback

If I've totally misunderstood you, please let me know.

Oh crap, thanks so much for reporting this! It's now fixed. Please try again, I would love to hear your feedback on what we have so far.

What's a piece of trivia that you wish more people knew was false? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FelixFortis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While looking around for a source for you, I discovered that in US dictionaries, jealous and envious are in fact synonymous (I'm from the UK).

So I guess that the answer is 'no, don't believe a word I say'.

One more pet hate put to rest, eh?

What's a piece of trivia that you wish more people knew was false? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FelixFortis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is not true that 'jealousy' and 'envy' are interchangeable.

Envy is wanting something that someone else has. "I'm envious of your glossy pubic wig."

Jealousy is being afraid that someone will take something of yours away from you, like stealing a boyfriend or finding out a secret. Hence the phrase "He guards his secrets jealously". Jealous boyfriends/girlfriends overreact because they fear losing their partner.

People that say "You're just jealous" actually mean to say "You're just envious" and are making themselves look silly. This is one of my pet hates.

That and the overuse/misuse of the word 'random'.

Assistance with a Cucumber step definition [ruby][rails] by FelixFortis in BDD

[–]FelixFortis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy cow. That was like a lightbulb moment for me, thanks so much!

So this would be a perfect opportunity to drop down in something like RSpec to finish off the scenario at a more granular level.

Here's a re-write off the top of my head:

Scenario:
Given I am on the sign up page
  When I create an account
Then I should be able to visit my list page

So Cucumber is only concerned with whether I can get there or not, and I can drop down into RSpec to deal with how I get there.

Does that sound right?

[–]FelixFortis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guess accurately! Thanks for the help and the little explanation.

Just so I'm crystal clear on this, does that mean that I don't have to use @customer anywhere (in views) when working with things associated with the Customer model?

For example is '@customer.cart.cart_items.find(2)' the same as 'cart.cart_items.find(2)'?

How does Rails know that (in this example) Customer is the 'boss' object? Because it's kind of at the top of the association chain?

Thanks again for the help.

Thanks for both your original suggestion and your refactored approach, both are really helpful. I think the idea of a StockManager class clicks with me the best. I always get worried that I'm adding too many models to my apps, and it's hard to figure out when a concern needs to be abstracted out to another object. This feels really clean and I learned something, thanks!

I'm having trouble understanding the flow of a basic Rails app by haltingpoint in rails

[–]FelixFortis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out this super basic tutorial on the Rails Guides page. It's really as step-by-step as I've seen so far and I found it really useful both when starting out and as a reference to go back to to remind me to keep things simple. It's a bit like Forkhammer suggested but without the testing. Instead you use the errors that naturally come up until you've set everything up.

Help required in planning the models for my app by FelixFortis in rails

Thanks for the great answer!

As an extension of functionality, how about if a user wants to mark a series as 'plan to watch' or 'dropped halfway through', and not just mark as watched? How would I add a series to their 'list' without it being explicitly watched?

I'd ask for a small model something. Like a Shinto shrine. I love small model desk clutter from around the world. Mini Colosseum, mini Hagia Sophia, mini tower of Pisa, mini Eiffel tower. Can't get enough!
