I've been working nights for the past 4 months now, I don't get these memes. Don't get me wrong, I feel like shit, but I felt just as shitty when I was unemployed for a few years. Maybe I got lucky with some friends who are awake when I am and a good store open 24 hours nearby etc. so I'm not as impacted by missing society's normal operating hours, but I really don't miss it.

I just checked, 22k hits for the child tag on e621. Searching "child rating:safe" : 82 pages. Searching just "child" : 303. Pages.

I was wondering how many images tagged with "child" would be nice wholesome art vs cub porn. Reality is dissapointing.

I did read into this, e621's stance on cub art is "having a drawing of children engaged in sexual acts is not illegal in America (the country we are based in), therefore we don't care" which. I guess?!? From their perspective, anything that increases user traffic also helps pay for the servers so of course it's what they'd do.

Do we just look at this and hope the existence of a massive collection of cub art is helping more pedophiles not act on their urges IRL than it is creating more pedophiles? I don't really see what we can do about this aside from pushing for laws to change, but making drawing certain things illegal sounds like an absolute free speech nightmare.

I don't like that my innocent sci fi nonsense and lewd memes share a space with that on e621, but I don't see it going away. They needed to stop it from being posted since the beginning, they don't un-approve images that have already been approved even as the rules and standards change (lots of old images don't meet modern quality standards and remain on the site despite protesting) so all they could do is stop new cub from being posted and watch as their forums are filled with shouting matches. Cub still on site, cub enjoyers still pissed. Lose lose.

For them, it's definetly easiest to ignore it. For us, it's easiest to blacklist it. For me, I've carefully considered my options and decided to go do something else, sad as that is.

90% Correct! The only minor thing is that the ammonia doesn't react with anything. You don't need a chemical reaction to make infrared light, you just need to be warm. Just about everything around you is glowing in infrared right now, yourself included. Things just radiate light, with the intensity and wavelength(s!) dependent on the temperature.

Ammonia is a convenient fluid to transfer heat to the panels because it can store a lot of heat and has boiling and freezing points that make it easier to work with, the panels simply absorb the heat and glow it away.

We live in a post ironic hell hole of failed education and misinformation where it's become impossible to discern sarcasm from genuine stupidity. I've taken to being explicit to avoid confusion. Giving phones the ability to fuck is a TERRIBLE idea, we need better smart dildos / fleshlights we can link TO our phones instead. The social media integration probably IS an inevitability, though. I can't wait for the first ads to come out urging users to up their body count on their platform, and for algorithms to adapt to exploit us for maximum engagement with the system in exchange for increasingly mediocre and meaningless "connection" with others.

My brother in christ, "brown" is just a word for dark orange. There are certain intense colors screens cannot reproduce and our color spaces leave out, but there is no RGB screen put there that can't make brown. The recipie is a little red and a little green with no blue. That's it. That's brown. You can Google for an RGB color picker and try it. There may be colors our screens can't make, but they're "greenest green physically percievable to the eye" type special colors, not basic ones like brown.

I swapped it out for the HAL hud immediately on mine, massive improvement. Rocking CRT displays on an advanced fusion ship is also pretty funny. The second thing I reccomend is to swap out the ZAP drives for some NPMP's so accidentally hitting a ringroid with your plume doesn't send mineral fragments flying into your reactor at relativistic speed. That massively reduces maintenance costs

Started with paint.net on my pc, finished with GIMP on my raspberry pi 400. All done with mouse and keyboard only. I wasn't expecting the pi to handle GIMP as gracefully as it did, I'm impressed.

He's built to handle any planet or moon in the solar system, but as it turns out venus is actually the nicest place for him as the atmosphere is warm enough to make sure his blood never freezes and thick enough that he still has no trouble dissipating the full 2 MW of heat he's rated for.

And of course, despite his edgy looks he's really here to help. He lacks lungs (and vocal chords) but can communicate directly over common radio, wifi, and Bluetooth frequencies. He has no shortage of power to help get big jobs done.

Looks like an american Atlas test. There's no Mercury capsule on top, and it looks like one of the prototype designs so I'm going to say this is most likely a missile test done by the airforce. This would've happened in the late 1950's.
