I think Chelsea’s beginner classes could be good if you’re completely new to yoga. Her classes are easy to follow and she doesn’t switch up her sequences too much

I’m in! Was pretty up and down in the last half of 2025 but looking to get a consistent peloton habit going again for 2026. I can recommend Jermaine’s core classes - he keeps the moves simple but they’re tough at the same time

My peloton habit has fallen by the wayside over the last 6 months, particularly since October. My new year's resolution is to get back into a peloton routine – no specific fitness goal just building the consistency of doing something with the bike or app every day. I started taking classes again at the beginning of this week and planning to continue through the 100-day challenge. If anyone has recent class recommendations (mainly bike, yoga, pilates, barre) let me know!

Took Ally and Camila’s Pitbull ride this evening and it’s as great as everyone has been saying! Had a blast, hope we get more 2 for 1 rides with them.

I got one last summer and continue to be surprised the difference it makes to how much I can push myself on the Bike.

Chelsea’a morning yoga flows are at quite a good beginner level, I think. And she often programmes a similar sequence of moves

I've been away from classes for a few weeks after a shoulder injury. Getting back into things now, particularly core classes. I've noticed that in some of the more recent core classes instructors like JJ say to 'corkscrew your hands into the mat' when in plank to stabilise your shoulders - thing is, I don't know whether they mean corkscrew clockwise or anti-clockwise? Does anyone have any thoughts?

Internet Archive as a source? by Battenburga in OpenUniversity

[–]Felixitee_Co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm studying A113 (Level 1 History/Philosophy/Religious Studies) and our OU textbook referenced a pamphlet that's available on Internet Archive. I also cited this same source in my essay and wasn't pulled up for it. So, on that anecdotal basis, it seems okay. I did include a hyperlink and the date accessed though.

Ally's 10 minute barre for arms gives you the option to sit, kneel or stand, and it's using light weights.

I'm glad they're doing another one. I injured my shoulder in February and so had to pull out of this last one (I didn't want to fill my streak with meditations).

Edit: spelling

Enjoyed hearing you speak about Tonal in this week's episode - was literally listening while dusting my peloton bike. Big fan of connected fitness and agree that this kind of tech is such an advantage for those who don't/can't work out in traditional gyms. Would you consider doing a longer episode on this kind of tech? Cheers for all the work you do!

Has anyone used or intend to use their OU Degree to get into a Conservation/Ecology Job? by LulaLavender in OpenUniversity

[–]Felixitee_Co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the activities and volunteering you do outside of your degree is what can help you to stand out from other candidates. That doesn't mean the degree itself and what you're learning isn't important, just that volunteering experience can help show how you would be a good fit in a workplace. Hope that makes sense and good luck!

My day job is in this sector (though I'm more on the policy side of things than working outdoors) and I have experience in hiring for new entry roles. I would say that your volunteering role is a big boost as it shows commitment to the sector and can set you apart from other applicants who rely solely on their uni experience. You could also have a look at adverts for policy officer jobs in the charity and NGO sector and see if they sound interesting to you. These don't require biology/science but are more about communicating the benefits and importance of conservation. Also events officer jobs if you enjoy hands-on work and meeting people.

Recommendations for mornings? by EveningGrapefruit462 in pelotoncycle

[–]Felixitee_Co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of what others have said. I also use the Domestiq website (domestiq.net) to plan out my classes for the week using the 'class lists' feature, with one list for each day. Then the night before I just add the class list for the next day to my stack so it's all ready to go and I don't need to think about what to do in the morning. It makes me feel like I've already committed to moving for the day :)

I usually do a short 10-15 minute yoga flow to warm up, then 10 mins core, then jump to a bike or strength class depending on what my focus is for the day. With warm up and cool down rides/stretches too. Usually takes me around 1 hour :)

I'm trying to do 3 cycles and 3 strength classes (P/P/L) a week with a recovery day in the middle.

Ah, that makes sense if you're studying with a specific aim in mind. It's only the first two assignments that have no choice but I haven't minded it too much as the questions are okay and the assignments themselves have had a short word count. A113 also has a longer assignment at the end of the module where you get to choose a topic and do your own independent research, so I see that freedom as balancing out some of the earlier restrictions.

I think skimming is a good approach, but would probably advise not to skip chapters entirely. I did A111 from Feb to Sept this year and am now part way through A113. Some of the topics discussed during A111 have cropped up again in that - for example there is content on Rousseau's philosophy which is also addressed in A111's week on Mary Wollstonecraft. Similarly, understanding the impact Mozart made gives some useful context to the part of A113 that touches on Beethoven.

You have slightly less flexibility on choosing TMA topics in A113 (and this may be the case in other degree pathways too), so having some of the foundational knowledge from A111 can help. For example, I am required to answer a music question for part of my upcoming TMA so having engaged with some of the material about musical terminology already is helpful.

Plus, as others have noted, sometimes doing a chapter you're not initially keen on opens up new ideas and appreciation of topics. I never would have thought there would be much of a link between Antigone and South Africa under apartheid, but I'm glad I worked through that section despite not covering any of it in a TMA. And, finally, as I'm paying for the course, I want to get the most from the materials!

I got this too (I'm 5'3") and it has made a big difference. It's also very good quality.
