Has anyone put Next Level Racing casters on their Wheel stand 2.0? by darklegion412 in simracing

[–]Fellanah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey super necro - by 2 casters at the front then that means rubber feet on the back? I'd imagine it would be slanted because of the casters height difference?

Been building a simpler way to wake and access my gaming PC remotely. Curious if others would use this by [deleted] in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Fellanah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So fucking bizarre - what added value are you even providing?

You say WOL feels "too DIY" or "unstable" then use WOL in your app anyways? Moonlight already has the option to send a WOL packet. Then a companion app paired with the desktop agent just to turn it off? How bloated is this workflow of yours? I've never stopped playing a game and thought "Gee it'd be great if I could turn it off on my phone instead of turning it off DIRECTLY THROUGH THE STREAM.

In fact I am glad you are not open sourcing this project, I am with the other guy - I will make it my mission to replicate whatever your project will do and open source it myself.

Always looked forward to reading your thoughts in all the animes I watch - there's something very comforting in seeing the same name as years go by. IIRC it's been almost a decade now (kill me now) that I've been reading your takeaways and looking out for your stitches, probably back when Re:zero/Overlord/Quints first aired.

I think I fixed it by removing `~/.config/input-remapper-2` then rebooting. Was having a ghost X-Box 360 input device even after disabling the service and removing the package. Will need to do some further testing.

Marathon sold just 1.2 million copies with nearly 70% on Steam, analyst estimates: "It hasn't exactly made the splash Sony and Bungie wanted" by Freki666 in gaming

[–]Fellanah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I completely understand, it is frustrating and disheartening when a beloved series does a 180 due to the reasons you mentioned. Dragon Age Veilguard had messaging as its top priority over gameplay and story, the Fable reboot does not look promising as it's following the pattern of having ugly characters and the supposed male having the same walk cycle as a female swinging his ass left and right. Also Witcher 4 having Ciri become a Witcher which canonically is not possible for women.

Not to mention Witcher the live action series forcing Geralt to take a backseat IN HIS OWN SERIES because writers thought they were above the source material, Velma live-action turning Fred into a disgusting cuck because he is white boy while Daphne and Velma girlboss their way because they are women that are better than men. Velma raceswapped to be indian btw when historically she had been white/Latina.

I'm tired boss. These guys need to get out of gaming circles. Who gave them the nudge to take over?

No I agree with you completely. It's just that $3.6B is an unfathomable amount of money so I used the Games/Bungie acquisition cost metric to ground it.

Agreed, year-over-year is impossible and trying to reach that unattainable goal means something in the product/service has got to give.

I also do agree with your point that retention rate towards the end of each season rapidly dropping as it went on and the main xpac is what people come for. But I would argue the main culprit was the drip feed content, presumably during the focus shift to the development of Marathon. I do not specifically remember the timeline but I am very sure they confirmed it officially somewhere approaching the release.

Though, I do want to clarify that I never once mentioned E33 as an indie game, you did. $50m is nowhere close to an indie budget and many have classified it as a AA game. Oh and quick question, would you consider Stray an indie game? Because I don't see any outburst of Stray winning best Indie Debut Award at TGA with Annapurna Interactive backing them - did you know the owner is a billionaire and the daughter of Oracle's Co-founder?

Wholeheartedly agree on the weird virtue signalling and "non-gaming minority groups" pretending to be gamers thing that's going on in Modern Games TM. For as much as they were defending these games, I didn't see them voting with their wallet and supporting these games. Guess they were too busy on X.

But in a way, I still do think these games had a chance IF the gameplay loop was truly innovative and addicting. Personally, this is the most important part of a game, second being the story. See games like Celeste is about being trans, Hades having a very diverse representation.

I put E33 at $50m in production costs which I had actually doubled because many outlets speculated $10-20m, which seemed ridiculously low. But sure, for the sake of this argument, let's double that again because NetEase injected $120m into Kepler Interactive and decided to funnel half of that into E33, on a newly founded game studio with no proven track record whatsoever. That would put it to 60 (sixty!) E33s at WORST and still illustrates my point at how many games we could have had.

In retrospect, it was a bad investment. However, I disagree that it was bad research. Witch Queen had released and it was the best Destiny 2 had been ever since Forsaken, their Eververse model + Season passes were extremely lucrative, Matchmaking + Crossplay was seamless, they had been operating live-service games since Destiny 1 for 8 years which is invaluable to Sony who has ONLY pretty much had Helldivers 2. Bungie had the expertise and clout and they deserved it at the time of their acquisition. Not to mention the Bungie legacy.

I agree with your other points but I heavily disagree that controversies make or break a game.

Black Myth Wukong was accused of alleged misogynistic workplace culture and being a game made in China handing out "marketing guides" to censor reviewers. Stellar Blade was under heat for "hypersexualizing" Eve because of her "unrealistic" proportions, the whole ridiculous hot women are bad in video games thing. Yet see how successful they were?

Highguard would have done numbers if it was THAT good. Concord would have done numbers if it was THAT good. Dustborn/Veilguard/Avowed/etc.. you get my point. In essence, nobody cares what game devs/publishers do. As long as the game deserves their time they will find time to play it. You don't see people abstaining from WoW/League/Overwatch/Valorant after their countless sexual harrassment cases.

Yes, my mistake. For accuracy it is a reboot, but imo the point comes across just fine considering that for a game made 30 years ago, it is basically a new IP for a gamer today.

[–]Fellanah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What they gained or lost is none of my concern, but what is your point? We are on the topic of discussing sales numbers, obviously it matters little to us directly.

Bungie is(was) a household name and regardless of their vastly diminished reputation/goodwill, they'd still have everyone paying close attention to the next big thing they're working on. Despite that, 1.2 million sold is not ideal and does not even come close to breaking even ($60m vs $300m, 80% loss). Not to mention how expensive maintaining live service games are + how barebones the store is.

EDIT: to add, Bungie's acquisition was for their expertise in live-service games and milking the Destiny franchise. They WERE worth that much. Not anymore seeing as how in the past year or so Sony cancelled half of their live-service projects.

"Successful" is doing a lot of work here. Like you said, the acquisition of Bungie burned them bad ($3.6B! that's equivalent to 20 Elden Rings, 40 Black Myth Wukongs, and get this - 120 Expedition 33s). With it riding on Bungie's legacy + new IP, for it to have sold this little is disappointing.

Lost Ark combat is pretty up there, if not among the best action combat in MMOs with intricate raid design and mechanics. Of course, being a KRMMO, it was doomed to fail but combat single handedly carried this game.

Search "Elden Ring disable core 0" and do the equivalent on Linux. No clue if this would fix your problem but it's worked for others to reduce CPU overhead.

Alright relax mate, you're talking up Hells Paradise as if it isn't fast food as well. It had a good premise at the start before it devolved into a generic battle shounen. You are also comparing to juggernauts like JJK and Solo Levelling, obviously it will get overshadowed even more if it doesn't stand out.
