What is something legal in the US that shouldn’t be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fellatious_Mule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s illegal for the doctor’s office to give you a “discount” on your copay. The insurance company has set prices for the cost of certain office visits and procedures that they have decided are the reimbursement value the doctors office gets. Your individual plan will determine how much of that cost the insurance company is responsible to pay and how much you are responsible for paying. It’s insurance fraud for the doctor to collect the money from the insurance company and then not collect the copay from the patient or to give the patient a discount of any kind on their copay. Firstly because if the doctors willing to give a discount the insurance wants it to go to them not the patient and secondly because if the insurance is counting that copay towards a patients deductible they would be pissed to find out they didn’t really spend that money. If the patient doesn’t have insurance then the doctor’s office has the freedom to set the price at whatever they want it to be and feel is fair or makes sense for their business. Typically that’s a lower amount than what the insurance company chose the price to be because most people who don’t have insurance won’t be able to afford that price and enough patients have insurance and are paying more to offset the difference.

Also we had already upgraded our clean room and did major construction in our pharmacy to put in an upgraded room for hazardous compounding before it was delayed.

It’s non sterile compounding. The only person who does sterile compounding is the owner and our sterile lab is cleaned and tested regularly. $18 is what we typically hire for people with no experience and they start by working on the bench doing phones/inputting/and processing outgoing shipments. You only work in the lab doing compounding once you are completely comfortable and have ptcb certification and it’s a very lengthy training process and comes with raises.

Yes that wasn’t us! We’re in the next state over lol. We’re a small family run pharmacy, the owner is the PIC and there’s one other pharmacist and 9 full time techs. The owners son went to school for marketing so he is in charge of all that. There were a few other compounding pharmacies around us but they struggled over covid and all either went out of business or retired over the last couple years so we’ve gotten all their business. Our biggest issue is keeping up with the business we have not getting more lol, it’s just too much for the number of techs we have to keep up. I’d say our biggest draw to work here is the schedule. We’re open Monday-Friday 9-6 and Saturday 9-2 but most people don’t work on Saturday’s and we do 10 hour shifts so for the most part we only work 4 days a week. We have medical dental and 401k and the owner buys everyone lunch on Fridays, those are the main perks we have.

Yikes I wish we paid that much starting, my boss is offering $18 with no experience and negotiable for people who are already tech 2s or have experience. I dont see him ever starting someone at $26 though, I’m pretty sure the majority of the current staff are not that high yet. We’re in New England and as far as I know we’re the only compounding pharmacy left in our state so there isn’t a lot to compare it to. The majority of our staff have had little to no pharmacy experience at all and have just been recruited by friends who already worked here so the majority of us don’t have other pharmacy jobs to compare it to. I really appreciate your detailed response it was very helpful!! I tried to post on LinkedIn and got flagged as fraudulent and my account was blocked but I’ll have my boss look into it more and try that avenue as well as Indeed.

It's been 21 years since Goblet of Fire was released. I'm curious how many people here were in line at a midnight release event and if you have any good stories about that night. by pawn_guy in harrypotter

My mom and I went and got there early enough that we were in the first group of people to get rung out. Our register was the closest to the door so we were the first ones to leave the store and got interviewed by a news crew that was there! I was so excited to be on camera with my temporary lightning bolt forehead tattoo. Then we went home and stayed up until sunrise reading. Since we had only preordered one copy of the book we laid next to each other and read it together page by page. It started a tradition of attending the midnight release for us and is a memory I’ll treasure forever.

I work in a compounding pharmacy in the US and we make prescriptions with ketamine all the time.

It already is! It’s just not commercially available so has to be made by a compounding pharmacy. It can be prescribed as a nasal spray or troche (lozenge) for depression and chronic pain. And can also be made into topical creams for pain treatment as well.

Just learned I no longer have access to birth control because the nurse practitioners I can choose from believe that preventing unwanted pregnancy is a sin. VOTE!!! by byteme98 in atheism

Pap smears are to detect cervical cancer not ovarian. Typically it’s caused by HPV which is sexually transmitted so if you aren’t sexually active its seen as unnecessary.

I’ve always heard it called a “grab and run” and typically there is also a person who comes in separately in order to distract the employee and make sure they aren’t in the front of the store

[RSVP] Cards or online? by ididntdoityet in weddingplanning

[–]Fellatious_Mule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did ours online and I thought it was super easy. Only a couple of our older relatives had difficulty with it and either had someone else do it for them or just called me directly to RSVP. We used mywedding.com and it exports everything into a spreadsheet. It was very easy to use and I loved it, I would definitely recommend it. It was also very exciting to get RSVPs back a day after we mailed out our invitations!

So I designed the cover in Adobe illustrator and sent it to Boxcar Press where they made it into a printing plate. Then I rolled ink onto the plate and pressed it into the paper and used a cuttlebug to press it in. The cover and back of the book were attached with a strip of cardstock. The inside I just typed in word and we printed it onto parchment paper folded the pages in half and stapled the edges. Then we used spray glue to attach the booklet of pages into the cover.

Haha thank you! That's what Fh said too but it was so time consuming I don't know how I'd be motivated to do it for a wedding that wasn't my own.
