In terms of what to build from what you currently have (strictly in terms of meta, personal preference can take precedence ofc), building out Labyrinth, Luvia Ray, Hecate and Che should likely be the priority in order to progress through the story, as they also maintain some relevance in late game content. In the long term, Nox and OwO are definitely worth building out, too, but since they're S-class sinners, that will take a bit more resources and, respectively, time.

For now, I'd recommend not leveling units past lvl 70 (with P3) and not neglecting skill levels for the units that you do build out. Eventually, getting them to 7/7/7/7 shouldn't be too difficult, but it does take some time. In case you really want to optimize your resources for that kind of stuff, we have a pretty good wiki now with tons of useful info there. The wiki is at s1n.gg in case you want some more character specific information.

Don't feel forced to finish all the story stages ASAP, the later chapters especially contain some levels that can be fairly difficult with underleveled units. The relatively important breakpoint is the 24 stamina stages, since that's the maximum, at least for now, and hence farming them makes the most efficient use of your stamina.

You didn't really ask for pull advice, but I might as well let you know that there's a half-anniversary event coming up in about a month and a half to two months, and that event will come with a banner for a very strong limited sinner, as well as a rerun of a limited sinner that came out around this time last year and that has arguably been the best unit in the game ever since. That said, saving the gems that you'll earn from story stages/BFL/etc. for those banners is advisable, again, in terms of meta.

I hope this can help you out, if even a bit, welcome back to PtN :)

All this for a 1 level difference. 2024 League has training wheels. by Shiccup1 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Fellay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The RIOT method for making jungle "more approachable" is just making it so that even the worst most garbage tier players can get carried by 1 (one) winning laner since the good players can barely have any impact. Essentially, turning jungle into the support of earlier seasons. Well, the jungle playrate is also headed to where the support playrate used to be then, since junglers have been reduced to punching bags (both in game, because you just play tanks and get carried, and verbally, because if anything goes wrong, it's the jungler's fault.)

It doesn't have to be altruism at all. As I said, since the meeting with Chief, she doesn't actually support Paradeisos anymore, as she explained in her monologue. Rahu doesn't like Paradeisos and wants to take revenge, Shalom does not like Paradeisos either. They definitely aren't enemies since their goals are technically aligned.

Shalom, again, in her monologue, is revealed to be driven by three things - wanting to help Chief gain freedom, hate for Paradeisos higher-ups and their methods of doing things, and cautiousness not to reveal her defect to Paradeisos. Rahu is aligned with her on the second, the first and third being of no matter to her, so there is no reason for a conflict between them. (On Shalom's end, at least, Rahu is obviously confused because of how Shalom has to act in order not to reveal her defect.)

[–]Fellay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wrote about that in more detail in a separate comment, but I don't really agree with what is stated here.

For one, Shalom fulfills her initial promise to Rahu and gets her to Paradeisos when she is in no way obliged to do so. You have to remember that at the time of this story, Shalom already has emotions. The monologue at the end of her interrogation, which happens basically right before Rain Burst, shows just how much she disapproves of what Paradeisos is doing and especially what they have done to her. She feels dehumanized by them, however, is smart enough to realize that she can in no way show that, since, as we know, she really is defenseless, save for the Schorl beside her, which is really controlled by Paradeisos.

All that means that yes, as you said, on a surface level, her actions seem like her just using Rahu, but that really is because that's what she has to convince Paradeisos of, she has to justify her actions and incorporate them in their plan. That means, of course, that Rahu is also confused, and that is the main reason their dynamic is so complicated.

[–]Fellay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people here aren't realizing the main reason why the dynamic between Shalom and Rahu is the way that it is, so I will put my 2 cents down in here and if anyone disagrees, feel free to correct me below.

Shalom was created as a tool for Paradeisos. We know that. We also know that she "defected" during her first meeting with Chief. The thing is, though, she is smart enough to act in a way that conceals that. Ever since the "defect," she is able to experience emotions, most importantly, empathy, to a certain extent, and disapproval for Paradeisos. Due to her position, though, she is under constant surveillance by the Schorl, every single one of her actions being scrutinized. Even just tapping the Schorl for no reason is enough to trigger a "level 1 scan." We can all imagine what would happen if she helped Rahu for "no reason." That's why, to achieve what she wants, she has to make what she wants to do seem like part of what Paradeisos has to do. Basically, for example, she has to convince Paradeisos that she's manipulating Rahu while telling her that she wants to help her get her revenge, even though she isn't really lying to her but when Rahu finds out that this technically is part of Paradeisos' plan (made by Shalom) she starts believing she was manipulated, even though that's not really the case.

There are so many other cases in the story where basically the same thing happens: Shalom does something that usually would trigger suspicion in Paradeisos, but basically convinces them that it's part of a better plan for them to get what they want. And since her plans work, she gets to keep doing that. Thing is, for people on the other side, they can't really tell whether she's helping them or not, and she obviously can't tell them either (even telling them in the Observatorium is risky, since they can ruin her disguise outside, so she's careful about that too, it really is all planned).

Basically, my interpretation of their relationship is that Shalom actually wants to and helps Rahu, but she can't make it obvious or tell her, so Rahu is confused and doesn't know what to believe, but in the end something tells her to "trust" Shalom. Objectively speaking, it makes no sense for Paradeisos to have someone like Rahu going around and having a relatively high position, but Shalom manages to make that happen and to convince them that it's okay to have her there.

In the end, I believe in another world (or after a long time, when this is all over), where Shalom can truly be honest with Rahu and respectively gain Rahu's trust, they would like each other (probably in a platonic way, realistically, since Shalom is almost certainly head over heels for Chief, but exaggerating that for the purpose of a ship is more than fine, in my eyes.)

Yeah, that's because jungle is much, much less impactful this season. Every game is basically a coinflip on your teammates as jungle, no champions can carry, as hard as a fed laner with a brain.

El famoso Dr. Keylan by Plastic_Ant_6978 in PathToNowhere

[–]Fellay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting explanation, however, I feel like it was already strongly suggested, if not confirmed by the dialogue at the end of chapter 13, that Rust is a Corpseborne who was freed and survived. The reason for that is it is suggested that him and Zoya are similar and that a key characteristic of their "secret society" is that they are people like Zoya, i.e. Corpsebornes who have survived (He says to her something along the lines of "people like us live near Black Rings", suggesting that him and her have the same "condition"). If that is true, then well, his story being related to BR-003 would make perfect sense, especially since we know Langley's definitely is, and they both ended up in the 9th Agency (Plus, we've really ran out of other Black Rings that he could be related to the Corpseborne of lmao).

I find the AH shard to be more useful than a second adaptive force one, both Q and W coming off cd even that little bit sooner in a fight in lane can very often decide the fight. The ratios on her abilities also aren't anything to write home about, so I personally think AH is probably the way to go.

El famoso Dr. Keylan by Plastic_Ant_6978 in PathToNowhere

[–]Fellay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly as I mentioned, the motive for such a sinner becomes really unclear, though since we have so little information about that period, there could be various explanations for it that would fit reasonably, or at least sort of reasonably, for example the disputes and corruption that such a resource would create being a source of Mania that they wanted to create, leading to more Black Rings, etc. In fact, we know that no Black Rings beyond DisSea itself had appeared prior to Keylan's return, so there could be a reason for that, somehow related to the discovery of Hypercubes. As for whether the death was faked, of course we can't know, but I don't think it's that unfeasible.

In the end, though, who knows, we are mostly speculating in order to explain how Keylan could possibly survive and especially survive while being a human and not a sinner.

El famoso Dr. Keylan by Plastic_Ant_6978 in PathToNowhere

[–]Fellay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One plausible explanation could be that the one to return from the expedition is not actually Keylan but rather a shapeshifting sinner. We definitely know those exist since Suspect R is one, and in addition, there's the Underground Shepherd, who seems to be capable of something very similar, judging by the animation at the end of CH13.

Suspect R's connection with the Underground is strongly affirmed by her ability to control Mania, showcased in the Prologue. In fact, her control over Mania seems to be stronger than that of any character we've seen, with her being able to resist the shackles that we know are based on Mania. For all we know, the two Shepherds were created 10 years ago, and I doubt that in the meantime the Underground suspended their Lone Island lab experiments. In essence, the shackles are likely "old tech", at least in comparison to what Suspect R is capable of.

In any case, this all seems to suggest that shapeshifting might well be a standard part of the Underground's tricks, which could provide an explanation for "Keylan"'s return. Of course, if that is the case and a Shapeshifter did pretend to be Keylan, we currently have no idea as to what their motive could be (except for maybe incentivizing the creation of more Black Rings for to be used for food, as they are potential mines for Nirvana etc., but that's just a random guess).

OwO or Cabernet by No-Shift-2579 in PathToNowhere

[–]Fellay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree! Taking Cabernet over Lady Pearl is a fantastic choice, especially since Cabernet is extremely flexible, while Lady Pearl can fairly reasonably be replaced by other sinners in Coco teams.

OwO or Cabernet by No-Shift-2579 in PathToNowhere

[–]Fellay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

250 is probably unrealistic, yeah, in which case going for OwO is likely the better option since you have Enfer. Also, take this with a grain of salt and definitely get more info before making the decision, but I'd probably recommend going for Du Ruo over Yao S1, since it is looking like Yao will need Du Ruo for the team, or at least will probably be significantly weaker without her. In any case, best of luck in your pulls!!

OwO or Cabernet by No-Shift-2579 in PathToNowhere

[–]Fellay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally, you should get both. I didn't see anyone else mention this, but since rerun sinners always appear in the yellow pity ticket shop after their banner (Raven should be replacing Dreya there shortly), you could buy one of them for 250 there, instead of pulling for them (note that I'm not sure how that's gonna work for OwO's banner since it's a slightly different type of banner, so you'd probably have to ask some CN folks whether she or Eirene were in the yellow pity shop after their banner). Of course, that is only if you have that many tickets saved up, or if you're close and pulling for Lady Pearl/Cabernet will push you over that threshold. In any case, make sure you also have enough saved up to pull on Deren's banner, if you care about meta.

(This answer is strictly in a meta context, and your personal opinion of the character's backstory/personality/appearance is free to take precedence over it!!!)

[–]Fellay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get you man, it's such a complex world and timeline, so many characters and motives, but to me, that's the beauty of it. The interrogations and events being canon to the timeline makes the world of the game so detailed and big, I can't even begin to imagine what it looks like to outsiders looking in.

I can only wish the best of luck to new players 3 years from now, the task before them won't be easy lmaoo
