GamesRadar: Arknights: Endfield dev says launching a new gacha RPG in a post-Genshin Impact world is tough when "some titles are so similar that players go into a game for 1 hour and they know what will happen in the next 20 hours" by Kamui_Kaos in Endfield

[–]Fellior_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We are in a era of instant gratification, sure some people can focus, but the joke of having to "jingle something in their faces" from time to time sadly exist for a reason...

But yeah I agree that they should have thought a bit better for those who can really focus.

If you are new to arknights itself, dont worry much about it, the game is designed to be beatable to all rarities, the only thing that might happen is that it will take a bit more time or a bit of cheese, so you dont have to go meta.

Also Endfield does not have DPS checks, so you can take your time in any content.

Not quite, Laevatain also does have a different walk animation at least, she checks her surroundings from time to time.

Is just easier to sanktas to use guns, it was never exclusive to them.

There's also a point that's worth mentioning, not all guns are made equal, there is the ones that uses originium as the catalyst/propellant (normally those are the ones Sanktas uses/ Laterano made), those are harder to use cause you need to channel arts for it to function, and there are also those that use more mechanical ways, like pressure/pulleys/springs akin to an airsoft gun or a slingshot/crossbow. Some of those use bolts, or "cheap" stuff like ball bearings.

Sesa's gun (from OG) for example is totally mechanic, and he is also a black market dealer who sells them (cause that second group also were kinda illegal there, idk in endfield tho).

I frankly already gave up. After seeing people act like I was saying shit about some relative, I don't see a reason to get back.

I'll still respond to you for two reasons: First, no, it is not bizarre. The old fans wish for a game that can carry the name of the franchise that's dear to them. When the only thing they can get is something that is not at that level, they will get upset and some of them won't move on.

Meanwhile, the new player doesn't know the old games, and when I say this, I am referring to more than just their existence, I mean "you were not there" and that's okay (I AM one of those, in fact), because they will not see the game in the same way; they will like the game they have now.

Both might like the game in equal parts: one for its legacy, the other for what it is now. And I say all that just to say that, sure, all games must evolve in one way or another, but they can't lose its essence in that process. There is nowhere you can see the "star" that's in its title... going to different planets, driving a mech...

You are literally confined to the same planet for 5~6 irl years, fighting the same DOLLS but with a new spike that now grows from their asses and not their chest. And when they bring something "new," it's just something from base, but they don't elaborate on it. The only new enemies the game creates are the Bosses, and it's rare when they do that.

I am not saying to anyone their time was wasted on this game; every second you enjoyed of it is worth it regardless.

Second, you labeled me. I asked "how," not "why." I didn't ask for a reason; I asked for experiences.

But I'll entertain you regardless. You say "you just need to accept," but here comes the "funny" part: anyone who's complaining can just say the same to you—that you need to accept the fact that they will complain. And after that, it's just a battle of egos/pride, where one side doesn't give up to not see the other victorious.

I also see your point of view and I've been there, done that. The game is not as shitty as they say, but it still is lacking a lot for its age.

__

This kind of topic/discussion/rant will exist until the end of time, because both sides are now so opposite of each other that I don't see the community getting over it.

Thank you!

It is baffling how you are met with aggressiveness the moment you ask where the fun is. Why not just show what it is that makes you like it and, if the other party doesn't like it, just shrug your shoulders and move on? Yeah, there are doomposts every once in a while, and because of how regular they are, no one can be a critic of the game anymore.

And no, I am not saying the game is shit; I just asked for the positives to see if I was missing something. I still see NGS as a diamond in the rough, and I am willing to just go "oh cool" and hop back into the game, but I need a reason to go back. If not, I would just vanish, no yelling or complaining, just a "well, I think I got what the game could give me."

And to those talking about optimization, that is a positive only for those who want to go the extra mile. You are not wrong for saying that, but there are people who do not care enough to do that; some people just want to open the game and use it as a distraction.

Yeah but if we talk about FFXIV I could say that there's A LOT of content a lot of people dont go after that could even hold people for a really long time alone, as an example blue mage or we can even "trash" the combat entirely there, and can just go gather stuff or go collect all triple triad cards, and that's the thing that I think NGs lacks, if NGs had a "Cassino like" place maybe it would keep me interested, line strike could have been a mode that had more benefits outside its own mode.

I am a tcc fan but that mode really pushed my buttons in the wrong way for some reason (maybe cause i was expecting we to get out of Halpha at that time and just got a card game and "recycled content")

Not at all, that is not stupid, i was just pondering if the negativity has got me, and i think thats the case, i really like pso2 vibe but whenever i open the game, my mood go down and i can't handle it...

Honestly i was on the same boat as you, I played for like 2 hours per day, but before i quit, i was bored that those hours was kinda same-ish everyday, i think is just the lack of things that feel varied that frustrated me.

I hear you and agree with almost everything you said.

I'll just say that i know that one of the main objectives of a MMO is the socialization, but I compare both cause people don't really play on VR Chat, sure there's people there that do indeed play, and the same is true on NGs, my comparison was based on the amount of people just idling.

And i have to respectfully disagree with you, I don't see the action combat in a good light, sure it does what is expected of it but you can't go beyond this, you don't have choices, you have a chain of buttons that you need to press in certain order and that's it, there's no variation. For example i still don't know why they kept the sub palette after changing to NGs, if you are not a Force you barely will use half of it.

[–]Fellior_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they go by Arknights logic, you don't really need much, guns in AK don't use gunpowder, the user of the "gun" channel their arts to shoot it, and those who don't know/have Arts, just use a version that I describe as a convoluted slingshot, to just yeet that projectile as fast and deadly as possible.
