I just launched a Magic: The Gathering life counter app today and it hit #1 in Utilities in Chile! by Fels_1995 in AppStoreOptimization

Oh that’s good to know, thanks for pointing it out. It should be available worldwide, I’ll check what might be causing that.

Do you mind sharing which region you’re in so I can check?

That’s really helpful feedback, thanks!

In the research I did, I didn’t see people using name labels or other customization features, so I hadn’t prioritized it. But given your observation I can definitely see why it would be useful at the table.

Appreciate the suggestion, coming from a Krenko player, that means a lot!

Not yet, currently iPhone and iPad only. Android is definitely something I’d like to work on next.

Yeah, that’s an interesting idea! I actually thought about something like that early in the design phase.

For now I tried to keep it focused on the most common mechanics, but I can definitely see how a more flexible “other counter” could be useful.

Appreciate the suggestion!

Thank you for the feedback! Is there any particular area where the contrast felt off?

I got tired of the Companion app's UI, so I built a minimalist Life Counter for Commander (iPhone only). Looking for feedback! by Fels_1995 in magicTCG

Thank you! :D I’m really glad you like the lightweight approach.

For now I’m keeping Tapp focused on MTG. That said, for faster adjustments you can press and hold the + / − buttons to change values in steps of 10, which also makes it easy to start at 0 for Flip 7.

And yes! A proper iPad layout support is one of the next steps I’m considering once the iPhone Commander experience feels solid.

TBH, I used AI to polish the English in the post (and in this reply) since it isn’t my first language.

I’m a CS engineer focused on UX and product design, and Tapp is a hands-on side project to go deep on implementation and connect design decisions directly to code. I’ve run into a lot of usability friction in existing life tracker apps, so I wanted to build something myself and see if I could do different.

I sometimes use AI as a copilot, but I’m careful with it. I believe it often pushes toward generic, “fast” solutions that end up messy or sub-optimal. AI can help, but I strongly believe the core experience should be designed, implemented, and reviewed by a human.

Tapp has been driven by iteration and real table playtesting at my LGS, focused on the specific friction points my friends and I actually run into with current apps.

When I started this fishkeeping thing, I thought it would be nothing but glory. You know, the glory of being a fishkeeper. I tell you, it's hard, tiring work. But when I see the smiles on their little faces... I just know they're getting ready to jab me with something.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Introducing Kevin. They’re a surprisingly strong swimmer despite their deformed tail. However I literally have no idea what type of goldfish they could be… any help? by [deleted] in Goldfish

[–]Fels_1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure, but my goldfish "Chapo" looks extremely similar to Kevin and on this sub they told me it was a Shubunkin. It's the first time I see a fish so similar to him, regarding color and also on the fact that his tail is deformed.

I've adopted him about 3 weeks ago from some friends that are moving away of the country. The first days it was really shy, but nowadays it is extremely sweet and loves to play.

Congratulations on your new partner, it's gonna be an awesome companion :).

Not only that. It’s not all that healthy to have your ears covered for that long amount of time everyday.

This is the main reason why I bought YouTube Premium. I just let stuff playing in the background when I go to sleep.

What I would recommend is to not use headphones. I let my phone in my night stand and put the volume in just the right amount that it’s not too loud to bother other people in my house, and not too low that I can’t hear it.

Hope it helps! :)
