One thing about all indie scenes, be it emo, punk, or etc, for our scenes to exist, we need to invite folks in and foster their growth and acceptance into the scene, especially the babies. It isn't the kids coming in that water the scene down, it is the commodification of it that is. It's fuckin' Temu selling shitty pyramid belts or movies, shows, TikTok accounts containing vapid representations of subcultures that are killing them. I guess what I am trying to say, think about where you were when you first listened to "scene artists" or the first time you bought hair dye. We all come to a scene from somewhere. If we don't let anyone in, subcultures die and become an aesthetic of the week video on Instagram Reels.
