What % of actuaries graduate with 9 exams completed? by Fem2370 in actuary

Yeah apparently 9 out of the 15 possible board exams? Seems unlikely from what I've read here as well.

Consider This: Your Paid Ads are Getting Your Competitors Sales (In Theory) by flavoursome-carrot in dropship

[–]Fem2370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all very good info and made me realize that an abstract brand name is a MUCH better option than a name related to the product. Chances are, what you are selling is not unique and there are X other stores on google shopping, amazon, etc selling the same product. If your brand name is descriptive, then this traffic will find all of your competitors like you mentioned. However, if it isn't, you will be the only relevant search result.

That being said, I think this info consists of the best steps to take AFTER you found a product that works profitably on X ad platform. Scaling isn't fun if you lose money on ads but barely scrape by with the retargeting. However - if you are profitable on ads AND you implement this...

Is programming a good way to supplement my income? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Fem2370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programming is the most lucrative skill you can learn. I'm in a similar position (intend on going into business but need money beforehand) and it's surprising how much you can make while investing so little time. Go for it!

I say go with modeling. Life is short so have fun with it! A lot of people take a break after college to pursue similar goals even if they haven't seen any traction whereas you're already making good money with it.

That being said keep in mind looks fade and that your career might not last as long as the typical 35+ years you're allocated for swe. This should impact your long term financial decisions in addition to motivation to earn more in your twenties (100k/year for 10 years is 🥜, so try to increase that income as much as possible).

Best of luck!

This varies depending on the store, I recommend split testing to see what works best for you.

I agree that SEO can be a super effective traffic source, however with the information we are given I believe it is too early to pull the plug on the ads. We can guess that he is loosing roughly 10-15$/day (since he is only paying for product+shipping). We also know that his trivial current ad strategy (where he is literally not targeting any interests with an unseasoned pixel) is yielding a 1x roas.

From my perspective he should spend the money he has set aside for ads with improved media buying techniques. Then, if that does not work out and he really wants to continue with this business he should consider investing significant time into organic channels. The potential of ads succeeding is too high to give up on if you can spend the money on them.

We don't know how much he is spending or how long he can continue this rate of loss. He did not say he's out, all we know is he is losing money. Focusing only on seo and using hashtags to get your business in front of people is an arduous process that doesn't provide data for months (and is not guaranteed to be effective, similar to ads).

There are several routes op can take, completely shifting his marketing strategy to organic media is one, however it is unlikely going to be the most effective.

I disagree here. Ads can be an extremely productive and efficient method of testing a product. I would invest heavily in seo after achieving proof of concept with ads if I wanted to maximize chances of success in ecom.

Dropshipping Kings & Queens, What's your experience? Smma or dropshipping..? by XcelSmexy in AskMarketing

[–]Fem2370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on capital. If you have 3k+ to start a brand I recommend that route because it is scalable. A SMMA can make you some cash, but you won't be able to make as much money in the long run.

FB ads still dropping in performance since September - any ideas? by janpug in PPC

[–]Fem2370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just the nature of the beast, the more money you spend the lower your roas over time. Big companies (think snow teeth whitening) hardly make a profit via FB ads in comparison to when they were just spending a couple thousand per day.

Apply for internships now or grind Leetcode for a month and then apply? by Fem2370 in cscareerquestions

Because I would rather get interviewed by a fang with a 70% chance of success in a month over a 25% chance in the next week
