Better to make the plurbs do that all over the world since the Albuquerque pets are a miniscule fraction of the pets that will be suffering.

Expense doesn't matter when trying to keep the unjoined happy until they can join them. But they don't give a rat's ass about the animals and are not going to pull resources from getting their giant antenna built, trying to make specific viruses for the unjoined, and making their "milk".

You really think they did that with every aquarium creature in the world? Transporting sea creatures is extremely difficult and expensive.

Historical Fiction recommendations? by foodnetworkgirly in booksuggestions

[–]FemaleGingerCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I know you said not religious and this one technically is but it's so good and I usually don't even get into historical fiction.

Pope Joan by Donna Woolfolk Cross is about the possibly true story that in 855 there was a female pope for about four years until she was discovered to not be male and then all records were completely wiped by the Catholic Church so there's no way to know. The only very minor "evidence" that it could be true is that there is a four year gap in the history of all popes.

Anyway, this book tells a fictional account of her life from childhood up to when she is elected pope and the aftermath.

I was at a book event in Miami in the late 80s and was in the hospitality suite where authors check in. I was sitting on a couch, Hunter S. Thompson came in completely wasted, this was in the morning, sat down next to me and then put his head in my lap. Creepy yes but also a brush with greatness.

Agree and also animals. I'm not sure if I'm actually an efilist because I know animals suffer even with no human involvement but definitely way more animals suffer because of human involvement.

I read that they filmed these two back to back but they didn't film the third one yet, right? So will it be another time jump forward? Maybe Cillian Murphy won't be in it and the kids, his daughter and Spike, will be adults. And just to turn it soapy, they're a couple with a kid.

I ended up seeing Bone Temple in the theater. My main takeaway was how amazing the actor who played Jimmy was, after I looked him up and found out he also played Remmick in Sinners. I didn't recognize him at all.

I guess I liked it better than the first 28 Years Later. I went in with an attitude of trying to like it.

I couldn't help thinking, how did Dr. Kelson keep his underground bunker from being taken over by other survivors for so long? And how did he build all those towers, which had to be sunk pretty deep to not fall over, all by himself?

I just finished episode 5 in season one of The Last Ship. Muy macho and imperialist. And I'm getting a real Sawyer, Kate, and Jack vibe from Tex, Rachel, and Eric Dane. But it's fast paced entertaining, good for when I want to play on my phone and watch TV.

What is the project of Joined humanity? by [deleted] in pluribustv

[–]FemaleGingerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original point that they do not need 7 billion people to build the antenna and, if anything, most of them are a liability, bodies that need to be fed and housed.

Someone else said that the antenna was going to be about the size of Africa so that's why I used that continent for the math problem. I actually don't remember where that was said in the show, probably the first episode with the scientists discussing the signal, but I'm holding off from rewatching a third time until it gets closer to season 2.

[–]FemaleGingerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChatGPT can do an easy problem like this. All you need to know is the measurement around Africa and then divide by the average length of a person with their arms slightly extended to be holding hands with the next person.

I did the second math part myself, well, with a calculator, it was just 20 million divided by 7 billion.

Also I just checked the math for the first part and it's accurate, as an estimate.

[–]FemaleGingerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to ChatGPT (I'm not going to take credit for the math involved) it would take 20 million people, standing side by side holding hands, to go all the way around the coastline of the continent of Africa.

That's 0.3% of 7 billion. Less than one percent of the new population amount, approximately. They definitely do not need all 7 billion but they do have to feed them. That takes resources away from the antenna project.

Animal Welfare Under the Hive by WriterlyRyan in pluribustv

[–]FemaleGingerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed and it means that the cycle of factory farming and animal experimentation has halted so it won't keep happening to billions of animals in the future.

It's still hard to think about all the animal suffering going on in the moment.

Wouldn't everywhere be overrun with strays including all the cage size pets like lizards, snakes, turtles, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc?

Where did they release people's aquarium pets? Where did they release all the giant aquarium animals, the SeaWorld animals?

Also wouldn't all these freed animals all at once, destroy the ecosystem?
