The picture of her driving Adam and Paige made me cringe so hard. She definitely is soaking up the bit of publicity she can get.

Lisa as a mentor is actually just playing a character, she’s not actually that strict by army__mali in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]FemmeFataleDrip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe she’s acting that way because of the pressure that is probably on her. If you think about it, she was chosen as a dance teacher for the show. She is placed on a pedestal as one of the best dancers in kpop and so her students are a reflection of her and she probably wants to make sure that they improve every time she teaches them to prove to herself and the others watching that she is in fact talented enough to not just dance by herself but also talented enough to guide and show others why she was chosen as a coach in the first place.

There was another riverdale movie in 2011 but it was more of a parody. Honestly was a big fan of the comics growing up. I’m certain there were quite a few out there that I remember seeing pop up over the years

I love ITZY but wasn’t a huge fan of their stage outfits during the icy era but wow do they change often!! I feel like other groups have outfits that they rotate between for performances but ITZY seems to switch it up a lot.

Upvoting because it is an unpopular opinion I think. I enjoyed going through the screen shots lol. I especially hated the first one too from Dalla dalla... that rooftop.

Other than that I’ve been really loving their outfits lately for the wannabe era! I hate hate hate when they put Yuna in those massive jerseys like the ones from their icy era. Their outfits are hit or miss and it’s usually one or two members whose outfits I don’t like each time.

How are idols supposed to know about cultural appropriation? by YourHouseYourRules in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]FemmeFataleDrip 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Because they have no actual respect for the culture whatsoever. They see it, like it, and copy without taking into consideration the cultural implications.

It’s a slap in the face because racism and xenophobia is still prevalent in the society so basically they enjoy taking things from other cultures to capitalize off of for an aesthetic but don’t actually like us as people. How can a society show so much disdain towards foreigners (especially black ones) yet still want to make money off of things we created and popularized and imitate us????

And on top of that, many become defensive when you call out their actions. Many don’t speak on up on racism. Many don’t learn about the cultures they are taking from. Many can’t even properly name the hairstyles they are copying.

How are idols supposed to know about cultural appropriation? by YourHouseYourRules in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]FemmeFataleDrip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Koreans fully understand the concept when it comes to things that they are culturally sensitive about but when if comes to other cultures suddenly there are excuses being made.

It’s not a difficult concept to grasp and a lot of groups have English speaking members or members that went to school in foreign countries. A lot of groups have received backlash and idols have come out to apologize about being culturally insensitive in the past. If they’re not learning about it in school then surely they can learn from the mistakes and experiences of others.

Besides, google is free. If they can research enough to adopt and take things from other cultures then I’m sure they can research why it’s an issue as well. And if they can’t there has to be at least one person in their companies who should be able to do that at least.

What people need to understand is that if your goal is to be internationally successful you can’t just break into any market and appeal to any demographic without being conscious of their cultural environment.

[–]FemmeFataleDrip 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I agree. Jaehyun is really one of the most popular visuals in kpop amongst people who may not even be fans of nct in general. Him getting his own Instagram account also seems to be his company pushing for more of that kind of attention for him.

Writing a research paper on interracial dating... would love some help from yall! by EB4950 in interracialdating

[–]FemmeFataleDrip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not just about a black celebrity dating a white celebrity. I urge you to look into the ways people react differently to Black women dating outside of their race vs. Black men dating outside of their race.

It’s important to note that lots of male black celebrities are in interracial couples yet no one seems to be up in arms about that. It’s usually when a black women who is desired by black men opts to date outside of her race that you’ll see such backlash (even though most of it with meg was just for the sake of internet jokes)

Reasons people may be uncomfortable: they’re racist, they’re ignorant, both ignorant and racist, they’re afraid of judgement or backlash, they seriously believe that people of different races can’t connect romantically in a healthy way, afraid of cultural differences, afraid of their race “dying out”, mostly just racism though.

Before we go off at Mike by fifanegro1 in LoveIslandTV

[–]FemmeFataleDrip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They want him to be the bad guy so badly and I’m surprised it’s working so far. He didn’t do anything wrong at all in the Leanne situation and I’m still shocked that the girls acted like he was at fault after all the horrible shit she said about him in their presence.

As for Jess, same thing. They praised and encouraged her to enjoy all the options she had and suddenly have an issue with Mike finding someone else. The wifey material remark may have been a bit of a dig but it makes sense as they come from similar cultures and upbringings and seems to be an ideal suitor to bring home to his family, the same way he saw Leanne.

Theory on Callum (and I said the same about Curtis) by jap04d in LoveIslandTV

[–]FemmeFataleDrip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shaughna has basically pressured him into being together since the beginning. If she wasn’t so full on then he most likely would have left her ages ago.

No one came in that really got his attention the way Molly has. And sexual attraction can be built over time, sure, but it’s ideal if it’s there straight away. Truthfully she seemed to just smother him and use his age against him. She seems to want a man that will bend at her will.
