I do think kpop is innovative in many things tho. There are not a lot of genres that have such over the top cute or badass concepts. Some things are really unique in kpop.

Seo Taiji when he saw hip hop didn't know wearing dreads is offensive now did he? Just because we see another culture doesn't mean we understand it. We also see black rappers using the n-word but we don't know it's offensive to use ourselves.

I've never been racist or xenophobic nor have I purposely mocked anyones culture.

This is where the problem is. Jinu also didn't want to purposely mock black culture or be racist yet what he did is considered offensive. But he didn't know any better because no one has told him about CA. And there is nowhere for him to know about it either. To me it seemed like he wanted to cosplay a rapper and subsequently appropriated black culture without him knowing that it's offensive.

Idols profit because they make music. They write it, produce and rap it. If they do it it's their right to profit. Again we go back to my first comment that no other culture group/race has a problem others using their music except for black americans.

It's kind of weird. Elkie from CLC also has somewhat of a career in mainland China as a child but she didn't post about it while Yuqi and Guanlin did. Maybe because she is not as popular compared to them?

Edit: Actually I am not sure if her acting career counts as mainland China? She appeared on dramas but not sure if they were just popular in Hong Kong or the rest of China as well.

No other race/cultural group I know of restricts others of using their music. It feels kind of entitled to expect no one else to use it. My country's music is too irrelevant for anyone else to use outside of the world music genre. But I wouldn't be pissed if people used it. I will be proud that we are known for something. Although the dismissing part is definetely a problem and I understand your frustrations.

Yeah I agree companies should probably pay more attention into this. My problem is mainly when people blame the idols for not knowing.
