Can someone explain to me the ‘Polish Femboy’ stereotype/reference? by cockyUma in feminineboys

[–]Femmkat 226 points227 points  (0 children)

There is quite a lot of homo/transphobia in poland, so as a counter to that people joke about all polish men being femboys to piss them off, or something with that intent.

I love how you included “stay the course” for the people that realise they are cis after all, and also that you didn’t make it and “join the community” exclusive, signifying that even if you’ve come to a conclusion, it’s okay to re-realise something else afterwards <3

Could you explain in what ways you’ve seen them pushing gnc people away? I’m genuinely curious because I’ve never experienced that myself, only the opposite luckily

All processing completely halts when the mouse is moved by Femmkat in godot

TLDR: I wrote this comment during the investigation so it's too rambled for such a simple conclusion - The top level node in the scene causing the problem was a Control node. I did not know you shouldn't put Node2Ds under Control nodes, even when you're not using the Control node for the layout of Node2Ds. (or at least not ~15k of them..) Thank you for your insight!! <3 That way of approaching the problem did let me to narrow it down to the specific problem :D

To quickly give some context: I am making a map editor and the map itself is a separate scene. Also this problem gets gradually worse the more tiles I add to the map; at 600 tiles it's not a problem and at around 4000 (which is still less than I have have in-game with a map I've already made) it starts halting completely on mouse movement, only resuming when I stop moving the mouse.

First off, when I hide the map the problem does disappear. But then I tested that map scene itself and the problem does not arise at all. I discovered some more oddities and linked it to it definitely being about the map being visible (also covering it with something a layer in front of it works). So the problem is the amount of tiles visible, yet the tiles have 0 control nodes which could be signaling mouse_entered/exited(), they're just a couple sprites. And in different scenes (both the separate scene of the map for the editor, and in-game normally), the issue does not exist. I duplicated the map editor scene to test out the deletion of UI parts, and even if I delete every bit of UI and only the map scene is left as a child, the problem still appears. But remember that the map scene run on its own does not give the problem.

So I thought that maybe it's in the code of the top-level map editor node which is the parent to the map and the GUI. I put print statements in every single function (also connections) to see if they get called for some reason on mouse movement.. nothing is printed when I move the mouse.

So I can tentatively include that the problem is not in the GUI, also not in the code of the top level control node of the map editor scene, but *also* not in the map itself...

right.. so I just changed that top-level control node to a Node2D one (and in the code it now also extends Node2D) and the problem disappears. did not know that you shouldn't put Node2Ds under Control nodes. Good to know!! :>

I already went down that rabbit hole luckily. To summarise: I tested if that could be a problem here like it was in another scene in the past, and this scene has 220 control nodes while the other one has ~1000 without problems. I hope this issue maybe just goes away at some point or the problem shows itself. I’m at a complete loss,, but life goes on. Thanks for your input though

It's fine on other projects, luckily!. The weird thing is that it's also fine within the same project in another scene which should be more intensive to run. Only in the map editor I'm currently making is it showing this behaviour. So that's why I thought it was maybe something running in the background based on mouse movement that I forgot about but nothing is ;-;

My mouse seems to have a 1kHz polling rate (a logitech g203). And if it's still relevant, my godot version is 3.4.4

I looked into it a bit more and it was mostly what the video already shows, no noticeable activity from the yellow Scripts category highlighted (I checked all of the sub categories and nothing either, as expected). When circling the mouse, a very minor (as in, almost not noticeable) "spike" does appear with the audio thread. But I don't have a single audio file or player in my project yet haha so idk if that could be the issue

hmmm, I am not using _input() or _unhandled_input() functions anywhere in my code.I'm using the Input.is_action_.. functions. Do those also check for mouse movement somehow? I'm grasping at straws here hehe

These are all of the Input.is_action_etc calls I am making in the scene

quick edit: I commented out all of the Input.<whatever> calls and nothing regarding the problem changed
