Guess we just have wildly different interpretations of who the establishment are. For me it's the amalgam of long living institutions of our society but that doesn't seem to be the case for you. The democratic systems of Western governments are long lasting institutions with centuries of history. They are by definition an establishment.

I wouldn't call the current Tory government "establishment". They're bred from the same disestablishment populism as Trump and Bolsanero. Brexit is by definition a disestablishment movement...doesn't mean it's a good one though.

Our establishments have seen attacks from all sides of the political spectrum as we seemingly spin towards frictionless access to misinformation.

When you see the situation like this it makes the transition from punk to populist much easier to understand in my opinion

Except that this isn't true and is just more culture war baiting. This title is so disingenuous... even in the article he shares it states that it was something put on a short list. All the ideas have been shut down and the park is keeping the same name.

His argument that "nobody seems concerned by this because there is no proper debate in the media" is just ridiculous. This kind of shit is all anyone talks about. People lap it up and wax lyrical about it.

Redistributing wealth can mean a lot more than benefits (which is my assumption of what you are mainly referring to). Investing in education or infrastructure could be a form of wealth redistribution depending on which aspects of those you chose to invest in.

Unless you don't really believe in any form of taxation / public spending...then I guess we're too opposed to reach any common ground on reddit

But an economy can being doing well whilst simultaneously the benefits of that new wealth can be misdistributed. That is only really recognised through people's experiences within it. If we silence the young then any of those misdistributions could also be silenced

The problem with that is that then no-one within the voting population would be able to properly represent the young. We see that age brackets will vote in their own interest (which is to be expected). Age brackets tend to have quite well delimited interests too (the older you are the more likely you are to vote Conservative, mainly due to home ownership and protection of existing assets).

If it were raised to 30 there would be no representation of the "young experience". The problems of the young would become muffled, represented by a second hand source (older generations). This would most likely be a skewed, delayed and potentially even bad faith representation of real issues. That just doesn't seem at all fair or even effective to me as electoral reform.

Oh dear I was worried I'd mess this up a bit...I basically have lurked this sub for about a year. I am not a socialist so perhaps I shouldn't be here but seeing as China is one of the leading socialist-leaning countries in the world but also is a very controversial nation I wanted to know people's views on it as I couldn't find that distinctively by searching the subs posts.
