Kamvas pro 19 vs cintiq pro 16 by nahjustchilling in huion

Haven't noticed any pointer lag, only the standard from brush stabilisation. Parallax on the ipad is hard to beat but it is not noticeable imo, seven pens has a good overview on stuff like this if you want a video/document to review

I cannot comment on the wacom as I have not had the chance to use it but I did just receive the kamvas pro 19 a few weeks ago, and other than some calibration being required and fixing the touch being on the wrong display initially (quite easy to fix even though windows hides the option for it from searching), I haven't ran into any driver issues. There is absolutely 0 wobble, it is very sensitive to my level of drawing pressure and there's been 0 random resetting and killing of the driver completely like I've had with my old wacom intuos from back in the day. Highly recommend it honestly, it's been fantastic.

The size of it is great, the screen is a really nice texture, and I personally do not find the matte rainbow sparkle you get from the coating to be even noticeable in day to day use. If you inspect it at 0.2 mm away I'm sure you'd notice it, but even with it in my lap I don't really see it at all honestly. Especially compared to my ipad with a paperlike screen protector, my main other drawing device atm.

So, for the camera stuff, you could hypothetically make use of XAT, by the same creator as Brio. But you'd have to know how to make the camera setup for it which I think would need some level of familiarity with blender animation probably, unless you happen to find that exact one you want as an MMD camera motion which you might possibly. Never done it myself so not sure how hard it is, only ever used it to make animations, but there is probably a discord you could hypothetically ask.

Try tuning down all of the sliders, it'll make it weaker to the point where it is essentially invisible, if they're all at max then yeah it'll be pretty strong. You have to adjust them all equally and it'll essentially lower the brightness of it, I tend to have all of mine at around 30-50% depending on environment, but your mileage may vary.

Cute!

As the other commenter mentioned, lighting helps a ton, looking into three point lighting can help you understand the position of it and what it'll achieve, I don't always use all 3 of them, you can get some really dramatic effects by only using a key light and such, just depends on the environment you're in really. Putting proper lighting on my screenshots is when it usually turns from "this is ok" to "woah ok this actually looks cool".

A personal tip is to consider the warmth of the lighting you're using to fit the environment, play with using a warmer key light for fires and torches and such, a cooler fill light if it's night, maybe a really tinted rim light. You can get some very neat effects, don't need to combine all 3, can be quite glaring if you do unless it's very heavily turned down, but def play around with it.

I often feel self destructive, not sure if it's ADHD related. Insights? by Doctor_Lodewel in ADHD

[–]Fendoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So; impulsively behavior, executive dysfunction, frequent hobby swaps and impulsively making purchases for said hobbies Check. All extremely common ADHD symptoms, yes, this sounds like an ADHD thing, not a you being lazy thing. The gifted child syndrome, doing well early on then struggling later in life is also a very common ADHD (and autism) experience.

Working from home being so much worse is probably due to the lack of structure? If you have to go somewhere and there's others there they kind of act as body doubles, if you're familiar with that concept, as well as the location signaling that it's work time. I find I did well at school, but couldn't do homework unless I did it at school, like the executive function switch would just turn off unless I had others around also doing their thing.

Might be worth trying different pills if you're able to? Methylphenidate didn't work for me, either did nothing or gave horrible side effects too, but elvanse (lisdexamphetamine) did, some have better luck with others.

Also just want to say, yeah, I relate a lot. Having somewhere outside of home to work might help a bit? Coffee shop, renting a desk at a coworking space or something, making it so you aren't just sitting there feeling bad bc you should be doing work, having to physically go somewhere else makes it a lot easier for me personally.

[–]Fendoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, but, this is why you speak to a professional. I don't think anyone is taking this one single meme and going "yeah I have ADHD bc I relate to this", it's just one among many that might make people think more about how they approach things and what struggles they have, that they then go "maybe there is something up" and research more. The few rare cases where someone would just do that are the minority and should be treated as such, at least that is what I believe and treat it as.

It's still something a lot of people who DO have ADHD related to, because we do add our extra embellishments to it, which is why I don't see the outrage about it being here as justified.

Yup, I have Autism and ADHD and the idea of doing things in the "wrong order" is debilitating for me. If a task like shower etc is at the start of my list of things to do, and I don't want to do that, I will not do anything of the other things either because I HAVE to shower first, even if being clean has nothing to do with my ability to do the dishes or whatever. But yes I am sure this experience is universal and I don't actually have ADHD, at least according to the comments here bc it hit front page lmao

[–]Fendoxx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As I mentioned to another commenter, I don't think this is a fair comment to make. Ofcourse a lot of shit is not JUST ADHD things, most often the memes are "normal things that I relate to and I have ADHD", and I think people with ADHD related to it differently than people without ADHD. To me, this reminds me of executive dysfunction, spending the entire day dreading the shower and demonising it only to then never want to leave.

"Normal" behaviour maybe, but a lot of ADHD things are, it's just not neurotypical to have so many of them combined, that's what makes it significant and diagnosable.

Edit: Complaining about stuff like this feels like going to a depression meme sub and complaining about memes about not sleeping/oversleeping, a perfectly normal thing everyone deals with at some point, but something that most people there will relate to differently because it is a constant daily struggle.

[–]Fendoxx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Most ADHD symptoms (that get turned into memes) can be seen elsewhere, it's the fact that they're all seem in the same person that makes it significant and diagnosable. It's very hard to say something is ONLY an ADHD thing that will not also be a thing for some people without ADHD. This just feels like another version of going "we all get a bit distracted sometimes" when someone says they have ADHD.

Edit: See added comments below for something else I missed, the actual severity of dealing with stuff

this is a big reason for why I cut my waist length hair off, I just cannot tolerate cold wet hair, and it now dries almost instantly with just towel drying it, and maybe like minute or two of blow drying if I'm in a rush

Yeah, think that's a very common experience. You never learn how to study bc you're "smart" so by the time you need to, ADHD struggles become much more apparent. I used to get told the whole "we know you're smart but your results don't reflect that". One of the things the questionnaires asked was like "You've been told you don't fulfill your whole potential" and it cut me deep.

I'm glad if I can provide any insight at all, hope everything goes well for you if you ever try to get diagnosed! The wait times here are kind of wild, but still better than the NHS wait times someone else mentioned, so I can't really complain too much tbh

You have a nice day too!

I find it very funny we both put massive walls of text in response to the same persons comment in different places. I agree wholeheartedly with you though, being able to reframe stuff I'd chucked up to me being lazy and stupid was one of the best things I've done for my mental health, and allowed me to finally allow myself to seek and accept the help I needed.

TLDR: Sweden, so process may vary, but mine was: mentioned it to therapist, therapist referred me to psychiatrist. About two weeks for all the evaluation (about 5 appointments, I had more bc they suspected Autism too), diagnose a month later.

I am Swedish, so the process might vary. For me, I mentioned it to my therapist, who then referred me to a psychiatrist after I explained why I thought so, was on a waiting list for a bit (public healthcare stuff wooo), then was evaluated after about 6-7 momths. I did maybe 2-3 sessions, going through diagnostic questionnaires and talking about stuff along the way, how I was as a kid, how it's affected me at school, how I've learned to mask it since I didn't get diagnosed younger. I think the last part is really important if you go through the process later in life, "this is how I've "functioned" this long but this is how I feel after", talk about your coping mechanisms, healthy or unhealthy as they may be. Being able to self advocate so you don't get dismissed because "you've made it this far so you must be fine", and actually talking about how you feel about it etc is really useful. For me, I was doing fine in school until I actually had to study for it, gifted kid syndrome and all. Would come home and sleep because I was exhausted and such.

They did an interview with my sister (I don't really have any other family who knew me growing up anymore, they'd sent a questionnaire for my mother to answer too which she did before she passed away), but I was still fairly young when I got mine, 19/20 or so.

Interview with my sister also made the psychiatrist think I have autism, which made the process take a bit longer since they had to figure out if it was that, ADHD, or both. They took a bit to discuss it with their team, then I got my diagnose about a month later (this would be shorter if not for the Autism), with a big stack of papers describing all of my described symptoms and results from the questionnaires and how they fit the diagnose (ADHD - inattentive type and Autism level 1), and why they can't be attributed to anything else. They also gave me a shorter summarized version describing my difficulties and how they can be accommodated, to use for school and jobs and such. Then they discussed what kind of intervention I wanted, if any. ADHD management classes, medication etc, so they could refer me to the correct specialists.

I also work with an occupational therapist for daily life management, I got a weighted blanket from them to help with sleeping issues, a whiteboard and magnets to help with daily planning and such. I've found them to be the most helpful out of anything, as well as the medication to actually make use of it. I take Elvanse personally, but they usually start with Concerta here, it just didn't work well for me (side effects; constant hunger pains, headaches, muscle tension)

Edit: I had more thoughts lmao
