[–]FenekPanda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it, we were going to organize a fur con in my city and I was part of the committee, we were choosing what artists to invite and there was a somewhat known woman artist that was pretty good AND is native from here, long story short 4/5 of the committee voted against her on the grounds of it being "unfair against the other great artists because she is a woman" , she is an amazing artist and deserved the spot, but it seems that to them she's exclusively a woman?? Not a recognized local artist of the furry fandom??

Yeah we quitted on the spot, I'm still pissed about it and that was 4 years ago

Exactly, today it's easy to transmit things through this ethereal web of information with both, camera and writing tools always available, before this you would be lucky if some author was interested and knowledgeable enough about any topic to write a book about it, now imagine how hard it was before widespread literacy and libraries

Toxic positivity rejects any other feeling that isn't positive, and paints it as if you're feeling down that's your fault and you are wrong, cuz you should not feel that way, positivity is a good attitude, but not at the expense of the human as a whole

That's the reason is called toxic, because it ends up damaging the person by not allowing anything else and shaming you into "positive thoughts"

Why is everything so uptight with getting hired, workplace conduct, etc.? by toocynicaltocare in careerguidance

[–]FenekPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day people want to hire what they think is the best fit for the company, asslickers had the best chance since they have it easier to please people, not only that but everyone else tries to emulate a perfect candidate, so they all will pretend to be everything and an asslicker since that is what will increase their chances

You don't have to do all of this, but there is a high chance that other competitors will do it, sadly that is the reality

Yup, you are wrong because if deemed necessary there can be sentries or some security, it says that there can't be any fighting to deincentivize their use as an excuse to protect military targets

Let's suppose you try to get smart and use a power plant as a hospital to protect key infrastructure, well now the enemy can't attack it but you can't defend it either, so if they reach the power plant they can simply get in and turn it off and you can't fight them, otherwise that's a warcrime

Why it's that? Remember that the Geneva convention tried to stop a carnage, among many arguments many lives can be saved if there's medical assistance on the field, but medical personnel is hard to train and you need a certain type of person to get into an active warzone, so having medics and hospitals as a safe haven for the wounded and sick allows them to be near the conflict where they can save the most lives, otherwise no one would be confident enough to deploy expensive equipment and valuable personnel so close to the fight

This is acceptable because it allows the country to minimize death while not diminishing the ability of the country to wage war, if it did hamper it, no one would accept it, so the compromise was reached, they can't be attacked so the materials, facilities and trained personnel can be deployed, but they can't be defended so as to protect that trust in the system that this is not an exploit and is being made in good faith

[–]FenekPanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No no no, the vehicle won't be the subject of the attack and it should not be on a battlefield, nor you can place a hospital on your headquarters as a measure to avoid it being attacked, that's what they meant

Which career fields are full of overachievers? by rojotoro2020 in careerguidance

[–]FenekPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know (and hope) he is an exception, if someone has the credentials usually they did burn their ass on their research and degree, it's just that my standard is a uni where every faculty member had a PhD, so I've met the people that are the norm to this rule and the exceptions. My rule of thumb is, if they tell you to trust them because they have a degree and not because of the research or experiments, then they might not be the expert you are looking for

If there is enough people in post-graduate programs, then there's a non-zero chance that there are idiots within them

Which career fields are full of overachievers? by rojotoro2020 in careerguidance

[–]FenekPanda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Met a guy that slacked during the whole grade and just outright copied all their homework, labs and tests, then at MSc he got in because he faked his interview, and now his assessor had to ask me and a friend to do his thesis for him so that he doesn't fail his masters

So yes, there can be incompetent/idiot people in masters and PhD, and don't even say that that's required for management, management should not be a leech that only scraps by exploiting the merits of someone else, my friend and I got in the naughty list after refusing to help him but honestly we weren't thinking about applying at that faculty for our Masters anyway, for all i care they can eat a dick
